too much of NATO/EU propaganda may destroy your brain cells. Be careful. You better ask yourself, why would Poland strengthen its position within its own domain (Visegrad Group/Balkan-Baltic line) and think of leaving NATO pact. Polish intelligentsia is wise. Destruction of Yugoslavia, pressure on Serbia and German meddling in Silesia (and many other things) is enough of warning to Poland. Besides, Serbians never betrayed Poland but many of today`s so called Polish friends in NATO/EU not only betrayed Poland but have Polish blood on their hands.

so, once more- Go Poland!

I talked about it before, but I missed the fact that this new unit is to be of brigade size rather than of a battalion - as it was before. An extract:

Combined Ukrainian-Polish-Lithuanian brigade could appear in autumn
May 13 at 10:04 | Interfax-Ukraine
Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Yezhel has said he expects a combined brigade made up of Ukrainian, Polish and Lithuanian servicemen to be formed in autumn.

... Ukrainian and Polish presidents had previously discussed this idea and ordered such a brigade to appear this year.

... our General Staff chiefs ... will have until July or August to prepare their suggestions regarding this brigade's weaponry structure. ... report to our commanders-in-chief before October-November about the creation of such a brigade

... we and the Polish side discuss plans to deliver engines for Tarantul missile boats.

Ukrainian and Czech Defense Ministries signed an agreement on military geography cooperation, and the Ukrainian and Slovak Defense Ministries signed an agreement on mutual cooperation.

And then the next thing you know, you think that all these men died from natural causes:

they started civil war. they had genocidal ideology directed against Serbs. in WWII they already committed genocide on Serbs. they allied itself with pro-Saudi/Turkish Arabic mujaheediens and with pro-German Croatian ustashe. they attacked Serbs side by side with EU/NATO. they committed genocide on Srebrenica Serbs. Then, Ratko Mladic came and liberated area. Problem occured with fact that after liberation nobody was able to control wrath of Serbs who were cousins of those Serbs who were mutilated by mujaheedines. what to tell you, sh** happens

EU/NATO/Islamic league should admit complete truth about events in Srebrenica. They were/are responsible for chaos there. they wanted war and they profited from that dirty bloody war.

LOL, you think Poland will leave NATO because of a multinational brigade??? Haha. This Visegrad group will just be another military unit inside NATO, like Eurocorps, the Franco-German Brigade, the Multinational Corps Northeast, the German/Dutch Corps, the European Air Transport Command, the EU Battlegroup and so on.

Technically, only the Multinational Corps Northeast is part of NATO structure. The Visegrad Battle Group will be also outside NATO, as other units you mentioned.

But I agree with the rest what you said, of course.

We already know the truth: it is you who needs to admit what Serbs did at Srebrenica. And you will not be welcome in the civilised world until you do.

What will be the communication language? Will polish soldiers obey an ukrainian commander for example? ;)

This is not that a Ukrainian lieutenant would ever command a platoon of Polish soldiers. I guess the units would be still fully autonomic, with the cooperation at the brigade and battalion levels.

The current Polish-Ukrainian Peace Force Battalion (POLUKRBAT) [or Ukrainian-Polish Peace Force Battalion (UKRPOLBAT)], formed in 1998, is deployed as part of KFOR in Kosovo since year 2000 [currently 545 Poles, 179 Ukrainians - reduced down from 321]. They share the command structure (Polish CO and Ukrainian Deputy CO, or vice versa) but the units might be deployed in different quarters of the same camp, or in another camp. Not much interaction, besides marching together on some official parades, I guess. English is an official language, which is normal - considering that they all interact with American responsible for this particular sector.

Oh, I just discovered the wikipedia page for the proposed brigade, en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lithuanian-Polish-Ukrainian_Brigade. Seems outdated though.

The 4,500-strong brigade will have its headquarters and staff in Lublin, Poland, with the national components stationed in their respective countries and actually gathering together only for exercises and foreign missions. Only its staff officers will cooperate on a regular basis. Once it reaches operational readiness (estimated for autumn 2011, with full readiness in 2013) it will be used to fulfill tasks given to it by NATO, European Union (EU) and the United Nations. The operating language of the brigade will be English.

[currently 545 Poles, 179 Ukrainians - reduced down from 321].

Correction: 152 Poles, 127 Ukrainians as of November 7, 2010. (KFOR placement map)

And why is he still allowed to talk about Serbia when the topic has NOTHING to do with this joke of a country whatsoever??!!

i still can`t understand why some people speak just in order to speak. People needs to hesitate to talk when they aren`t familiar with facts. Why just BLA, BLA? Why?

if you could be familiar with politics of Visegrad Group you could learn about contacts between Visegrad Group and Serbia. Serbia is practically in focus of Visegrad Group countries. We getting financial, know how and moral support from Visegrad Group. In many levels Serbia already coordinates with Visegrad Group.

Press Conference after the Meeting of Prime Ministers of the Visegrad Group, Held on 16th June 2008

Donald Tusk, Prime Minister of the Republic of Poland: ...

Recent events in Ireland should not discourage leaders of the EU from continuing in the work with partners like Croatia, because we should cooperate with Croatia, and to form European prospects for Serbia and Ukraine.

Are Central Europe and the Balkans coordinating their energy policy?

The declaration, along with the Visegrad Group members, was signed by the Central European and Balkan states present at the summit, namely Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Romania, Serbia and Slovenia.

Visegrad Group Ministerial Statement on the Western Balkans

The V4 expects the EU Council to submit the EU membership application of Serbia for the opinion of the European Commission as soon as possible.

Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Slovak Republic Mikuláš Dzurinda visited Serbia

As Foreign Minister of Slovakia which is currently chairing the Visegrad Group, he also pointed out the successful experience of regional cooperation of Central European countries and the need to build the same quality of relations among Southeast European countries.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Slovak Republic
The International Visegrad Fund (IVF)

* Destination countries - Belarus, Serbia, Georgia

Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic
Minister Schwarzenberg accomplished a visit to Serbia

Minister Jeremić expressed his thanks to the Czech Republic for support for integration efforts of Serbia. Further issues of the meeting were current situation in the Western Balkan, relations with Kosovo, reciprocal support of candidatures in multilateral organizations and Serbian interest in cooperation with Visegrad Group countries.

ONCE they lobbied hard to join NATO. After Russia's war with Georgia, they begged for coherent plans to defend them. But now the alliance's eastern members are finding it hard to keep defence spending anywhere near 2% of GDP, the official NATO target they agreed to meet. Poland does best: Barack Obama will announce the stationing of a squadron of F-16s there when he visits Warsaw on May 27th. But others are at 1% or even less, or are unrepentantly heading in that direction (see chart).
Iveta Radicova, Slovakia's prime minister, says bluntly that defence is "not a priority". She wants to improve her country's competitiveness and reduce unemployment.

economist/node/18682793?story_id=18682793

Considering the above - what kind of impact will it have on development of plans for Visegrad Battle Group?
Polish contribution does not look that bad, considering the following plans disclosed by Polish Defence Minister, Bogdan Klich, at the conference "Challenges of modernizing of the Polish Armed Forces", on May 18:

The priority at the finalization of the "Army 2007-2012" program is technical modernization, linked closely with the country financial capacity, i.e. the rate of defence spending (1.95 percent of gross domestic product) and Poland's growth forecast to year 2018. Our modernization "road map" includes 14 operational armament programs - expected to cost 30.7 billion zloty, at today's prices. Altogether, the Ministry is expected to spend 58 billion zloty on technical modernization in the period 2009-2018, which includes 27 billion zloty to finance projects that does not fall into category of the operational programs.
When making purchases, we set three criteria: quality, price and polonization of production. About 70 percent of the modernization funds is allocated annually in the Polish defence industry; in some programs this number reaches 90 percent. It is important that the modernization is largely based on the domestic defence industry - no matter whether it comes from the state sector or from a private enterprise developed from scratch.

I think it's fairly clear that Serbian forces committed genocide there but I don't see incontrovertible evidence. The logic is there as they wanted to restore the town to being Serbian.

Anyway, does this Visegrad group have a remit?

If Visegrad Group wants to be a military power in Europe, she sure needs Turkey.

And its members

V4 + Turkey + Ukraine + All Balkan countries.

I am serious seanus.

We can share the power with Poland and other members.

I am sure when it is likely to materialize Serbia will support it too.

I will add three countries to the alliance Lithuania, Estonia and Finland.

Imagine the map ;

Alliance 1

Germanic + Latin Europe West European Union

Alliance 2

Slavic + Turanic Europe Middle & East European Union

Well, what is the sense in such an alliance?

The motivation will be a balance against Germany-France-UK triangle in all aspects mainly economy and military.

None of the members of Middle & East Europe will dominate the others. All the countries in that group are not super powers and have great potantial to develop if they can have chance to show themselves.

To be a nuclear power is just a will and time issue. Even Iran has now.

But this alliance will mainly be an economic alliance. Not for tensions or war.

But as BB as master of EU :) immediately reminded war, this alliance will need a strong defensive military power of course.

History has shown that alliances against someboy will let to war against said somebody sooner or later.

Not to mention that alot of your future slavic/eastern european wannabe partners are already in the same economical/military alliances you hope to defend again, with the rest waiting to get in....just saying ;)

Europe needs only one economical and military alliance..against -non-european alliance if possible, to avoid infighting!

Economic alliance? Oh, ok

An economic alliance within these countries will maintain an amazing growth and this will bring huge military power at the end.
