Obtaining a permit to buy land in Poland

I am an American trying to buy a house here in Warsaw. I have been living in Poland for 2 years now and am having trouble obtaining a permit to buy land. I recently received notice from the ministry that I had not been denied a permit nor granted one. The land in question is a small residential lot with an established house, total lot =700m2. Has anyone here had any similar situations and can offer some advice. The ministry wants me to provide more support for my ties to Poland.

As far as I know in order for a foreigner to buy land or real estate in Poland, he or she must prove that his relations to Poland are "strong" and "long-term". It means he could obtain a Polish citizenship; have a Polish spouse; is in the higher management of a company run by a foreign capital; or runs a company registered in Poland for a specified period of time (I think at least 1-2 years).

A foreigner can buy land without getting any permit, but he must have lived in Poland for five years from the time he got permanent residency in Poland.

Yep, get married with a Polish woman - that will help. It helps here in the US too . I've never thought I'd live this day .. .

Two years is not enough.. In the US you have to be 5 years to become the citizen (and have alll the "rights" like other citizens). It's similar now in Poland.

I can help you with that permit. The easiest way to do it is through a "nominee" pro forma polish buyer. email me at confedfin@linuxmail.org. You can get it instantly this way. For example on the paper a "Pole" will buy the land and then unconditionally release it to you. So the "Pole" is the owner just on the paper but you are using the land.

pretty risky business, what occurs in five years time when he tells you it is my land/home, you gave it to me?
