Babcia Helena Olkowska came from the area of Fijalkowo-Zawady in Makow Mazowiecki region of Russian Poland in 1911. One of the songs she sang to my mother & mother to us, contained the words "szla dziewczynka szypkiem krokiem.....na swej mami grob, na swej mami grob.....Nowa mama jesc nie daje tylko suchy chleb...." It's a song about a little girl whose mother has died-she goes to the cemetery to look for her grave; she's helped by the attendant & cries to her mother about her cruel new mother. I can't remember all the words & no one else in the family remembers the song. Can anyone help?
