What kind of dog you getting?
Here is some information:
1.The pup has to be at least 8 weeks old.
2.Needs a vet certificate that the pup is healthy.
3.Needs puppy shots.
4.Needs rabies shots, but those are not given to pups under 3 months old. So if a pup is under that age, you will have to sign a paper in US at the Agriculture Department at the airport that you will give him the rabies shots.
5.He has to have a ticket. Around 400 zl.
6.He needs to be in an airline approved kennel
7.He can be put on the plane in Poland by the seller who needs to have the paperwork and you can pick him up.
8.Airlines sometimes don't allow dogs in January as they are put the carriage department under the plane and it gets very cold.
9.You have to notify the airlines ahead of time before the dog gets on
10.If you have any other questions, please ask me.
Thank you.

is probably going to be the problem...the pups would be 8 weeks old around 1-11-08
what are the temps usually around that time in Poland? i have a feeling that they will be rather chilly in Detroit which would be the closest for me...but maybe he could go a little south and i could drive down and get him...
another question...what is zl? is that polish $
Thanks you bunches! Oh...it's a leonberger...and what was yours?
400zl= $164 USD? That seems way too cheap NO?

złoty is Polish currency and they weigh the kennel at the airport and charge by the weight, so it might be less 400 złoty which would be around $150.
You should call the airlines and ask if they will ship a dog. Winters in Poland are similair to Detroit.

A dog is allowed in a cabin only if it is under 8 kilo. Mine were in the cargo unit because there were 2 together and they were heavy. Depending what airline you chose, there are different rules. The best one would be LOT or another one that goes direct to US.
Leonbergers are big, so he might have to fly cargo if over 8 kilo.

Haha, not only. He ate my rabbits and ducks and rooster and chickens. He's got a big kennel now where he can't get to them. He was fed raw meat as a puppy by the breeder in Poland, something you shouldn't do to a German Shepherd because they have that taste of blood...

So the pups were on the same plane with you? Yes...it is much less expensive to fly that ay...yet another reason why I was hoping that someone was traveling on Holiday from Poland to the US and would be willing to help get my little big guy here...and yes..chances are fairly good that he would be heavier than the 8kilo..
Did your need to be micro chipped?
thank you again

No. That is only required when you travel in Europe.
But they did have tattoos, which your breeder will probably have put on him.
I was with the pups until it was time to leave, then they were put in a special cargo department on the plane.
But you have to cantact the airlines you wish to use to see if they will accept dogs in January.
