Organic Food in Poland?

Are there any organic food stores in Poland? If so, are these more expensive then "regular" food? I've heard about 20 years ago all food in Poland could be classified as "organic" (since few farmers could afford pesticides), but now in the EU it seems the food in Poland is getting worse and worse as the EU requires to have a minimum "crops per hectare"; otherwise, they classify the farm as unprofitable.

I'm going to move to Poland for a few months and would like to hear your opinions.

I don't think there are many (or any). If you're going to live in a city expect poor quality products (they look nice, but taste like s&it). The general rule of a thumb - the worst the vegetable/fruit looks, the better it is. Don't fall for waxed apples or big oranges, they are pesticides-driven. You'll notice plenty of such "plastic foods" in Polish chain-stores.

The only place you could get healthy, organic food is from your own, private farm. Move to the Polish country!

I don't exactly know about organic foods in Poland, but I know most cornflakes (eaten with milk for breakfast) don't taste good..

In my opinion such stores don't exist in Poland yet (unless in fancy stores in the cities).

Every food in Poland is basically organic. One advice for you, in the middle of winter avoid perfect looking veggies imported from Spain, etc that are being sold in "polish" chain-stores and you'll be OK.

I like Polish apples and cherries. And honey (always organic I guess unless sugar added).

Not sure how things look now in Poland, but before I left there was not a whole lot of talk about organic food in Poland. Pretty much everything was organic food anyway.

Any time i have been in poland their supermarkets seemed to be as good as anything in the UK. The only trash I ate in poland was a McDonalds but that was by choice :o)

Yes there is a small chain of organic food shops here (I've seen them in Galeria Krakowska) but they're smaller and less commercialised than wholefoods.

That's the safest food when you go to mexico. The venders on the streets sell you tacos then you get sick later.

That happens in any country really. Those vendors selling crap on the street side should just advertise their wares as salmonella! lol
