Hi,

Can anyone recommend any English speaking doulas in Poland or advise whether or not there is such a thing in Poland?

I'm currently in Australia and struggling to find any information on Doulas in Poland.

Thank you!

We have polozna, or widwives, in Australia too however, doulas provide extra (non-medical) support during labor. I don't speak much Polish and had a very tough labor first time round - I'm hoping a doula will help put my mind at ease somewhat.

Thank you.

Hi JLW,

where in Poland do you live? can you not find an English speaking midwife, maybe in a private clinic.

I found this for you http://www.shantala.pl/mama/doula/ It is all in Polish language but if you have an automatic translator on google it will change for you. At the bottom it lets you search your area (I done mine, Warsaw) and there are lots, so maybe E-mail a few to ask which ones speak English. Hope it helps.

Try not to automatically assume that things will go the same way as your first labour, difficult I know but second and subsequent births are often a lot easier and less traumatic.
From my experiences, the advice I have given before is...
1/ Do as you are told (from the midwife/Doctor)
2/ Stay as calm as you possibly can
3/ Don't blame yourself if you "give in" and accept pain relief when you said "natural birth with no drugs" on your birth plan. Gas & Air is a gift from god :)
