I've recently moved to Poland and I am 4 months pregnant with my first child. I had an obstetrician lined up before I arrived but now it appears that he is no longer in a position to do it. Can anyone recommend how I might find an English speaking obstetrician/midwife in Poland? Both my husband and I are English speaking expats. I have private health insurance.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated!

this website has information in English and they arrange visits for foreigners, so why don't you check it up

ginekolog-krakow.pl

I can see the clinic is located in the strict city centre

good luck!

in Poland you need a gynecologist, not an obstetrician or midwife. In my experience most Polish Doctors speak English so you should be able to find one fairly easy. Here's a Google search for gynecologists in Krakow. Just try contacting a few.

When she is pregnant she needs gynecologist-obstetriciant, not just gynecologist.
In Poland, if you are pregnant, you go to a doctor who specialises in both disciplines.

I have just seen your questions while searching for an English speaking obstetrician. I presume you found one. I've just found out I am pregnant and wondered if you know of any pre-natal groups for English speakers?
Thanks,
Rachel

Hi I'm a midwife in England.

Can't you just have A midwife in Krakow instead of a doctor?

Doctors specialise in pathology and illness, but midwives specialise in normal pregnancy and birth.

Don't be silly, this is Poland - they don't have papers!

(one of the worst things about Polish pre/post natal care is the way that women have to deal with terribly rushed gynaecologists rather than relaxed midwives)
