Hey I'll be getting married next year in Poland and was wondering if anyone new any good (and economical!) Polish wedding bands, preferably English speaking as I am Irish.
We'll be getting married between Lodz and Czestochowa so I suppose a band based around there would also be ideal. Any recommendations? I don't know where to start!

If you can afford one go for an all-acoustic troupe or you'll end up with casiotone playalong disco polo. Aural massacre, even though 90% of your guests won't mind.

If you like your blues played with a tux and fedora rather than a baseball cap, the Quintette du Hot Club de Poznan is available at competitive rates :)

We made that mistake. Choosing that band was one bad call.

Hi,

I really enjoyed two bands: Pawlak Orkiestra and Vertigo.
Here are the links (Vertigo has sthg wrong there and you can't listen and watch their website, but they are more like a rocking and swinging, very versatile band, not that traditional, ask them to send some samples):

I had a DJ ... and most of the times a band thinks it speaks English and you won't be able to understand the lyrics. My DJ didn't speak English either, but the guests were so kind as to translate most of the things he said (during the obligatory "games" - yawn ...).

Ooo ... and if I might give you a tip ... there is a game called "kareta" (or krol and krolewa). Learn the declinations of krol ... otherwise you are always too late and end up drunk at your own wedding. Fortunately I had a seat with a thick kind of cussion, so i could "lose" my vodka in the seat. Otherwise I'd have ended up in A&E ... ;).

Enjoy!!

This is great I do indeed prefer something bluesy - thanks guys - I might send a couple of these an email and find out about rates... I was going to see if I could book a band for 4500 - 5000 żl... is that budget realistic?

Does anyone know where I can find a ballpark figure for hiring a singer or duo for a pub gig ?
I have been offered such a gig and have no idea what to charge.
Many thanks.

Hi

We're Irish too and trying to find a band for our Wedding in Zakopane, so far the best one we've come across is Red Combo, the guy Tom speaks great English and is very easy to deal with via email. They've quoted us 4500zlt or 5000 with drums and they provide their own transport and accomodation , and they said they can play until 5am! Is your other half Polish?? We're both Irish so it's very difficult to find a band that can play the entire set in English!
