Those numbers are way out, those are the census numbers iirc, hardly accurate.

I met a certain civil servant recently who reckons the number of Polish in Ireland is closer to 400k than 200k. The UK also have a lot of 'unregistered' Poles.
There are also a huge amount of Chinese in Ireland, but they are not as visible as Poles obviously.

I believe Iberia relaxed their laws with regard to immigrants last summer (summer '06) or at least since that document was published.

There are other reasons that people are ignoring why Ireland/UK are so favoured, for example:

Economic - The growth of the economy relative to the population, favourable ratio
Social Welfare - Strong social welfare system in UK, moderate in IRL
Language - 1st language in IRL/UK is English, majority of French/Spanish often refuse to speak English
Previous Immigrants - UK is overrun by immigrants already, but they fail to take any responsible action. Ireland never had much of an immigrant population before aside from a few thousand nigerian and romanian.

I'm not sure Irish people do think the same... ;)

By the way, Iceland must be great (to go on holiday, to work, don't know...)

Iceland

I know a Polish man who left the UK, saying he was going to Iceland next.
I can't imagine him staying long - isn't alcohol ridiculously expensive there.

Does anyone use this word in a positive context?
Not in my back yard, they don't.

everything is, including Prince Polo bars which have started popping up in shops here and there because of the increasing Polish presence (and Icelanders supposedly like them a lot too, at least that's what the article mentioned).
