I recommend Zakopane, south of Krakow about an hour and a half drive up in the mountains. Admittedly it is not a city but it is a must see place.

I would go to Torun. It's fantastic a city and not many tourists. Perfect combination. Maybe you can stay in Poznan and make a day trip to Torun stopping over in Gniezno (first Poland's capital). It can be a nice road trip.

I wouldn't bother with Krakow, too many tourists. Go to Lublin instead.

Zamość, a little-known jewel in the south-east.

Why not see Krakow and then nearby places like Wieliczka salt mine, Auszwitz or Zakopane? 1 Week is perfect. Travelling for hrs up to the baltic may take some sight seeing time away. It's totally worth seeing, but not too practical. I think visiting smaller villages is a lot of fun. I'm sure you'll keep busy. Have fun.

Sandomierz
Little city with big castle, with beauty market place, underground museum, tasty ice cream, if You want You can dress up in middle-age polish knight's armour.

Sanok
City near Rzeszów, with beautyful etnograpfical museum (skansen). In Sanok live and paint Beksinski, famous polish modern artist.

Ojcow/Pieskowa Skala
Small villages near Krakow, in Pieskowa Skala are impressiv castle, called small wawel. Lot of canions, and stone forms (maczuga herkulesa in Pieskowa Skala).

Fiew places near kielce, krzyztopor castle, castle in chęciny, raj cave, corn maze, and small, and lillte zoo with zubry (animal like bison) in Kurozweki and may more. You can spend night on farm - You can to milk a cow with Your hands :) - Tour for two - three days in car.

Zakopane - horrible place, where are 1000 tourist per 1 km2. But mountain are really impressive.

I agree with this statement. Gdańsk is a perfect city to visit after Warsaw and Krakow, with the beautiful Old Town and great history - Solidarity was born in Gdańsk! And the neighbouring cities, Sopot and Gdynia, are definitely worth seeing.

Gdańsk
