What is considered to be a good (normal.) salary (wage.) in Poland?

pay in poland varies on qualifications......after tax 1400 zl is the average....a person on old age pension gets around 750zl....

I agree. I'm thinking about 2000zl per month is fine for an "average Pole".

It also depends on the region - in the cities people\'s wages are naturally better.

we tqlk about the average wage, keep in mind thae average american worker eans more in one than a pole in one day.....the cost of living is almost the same as in the US.

Now the US dollar is weak around the word's economy so I don't know. But it's true an "average" American worker is much more well-off than his peer in Poland.

If a polish worker was able to work in america and spend his money in poland he would indeed have a good life style...Living in america is not what it is cracked up to be....food is very expensive as are homes and accommodation.....americans enjoy cheap cars and petrol.

Living in America is not as expensive as you seem to think-it depends on what part of the country you are living as to what different things cost such as food, housing, and other things. Yes, gas has gone up alot but it isn\'t enough stop any of us Americans from driving.

you may be right if you live not in the capital city[b]poland is very expensive to live if you work in poland...I still believe that if poles stayed in poland and did not work overseas. poland would be a richer country,, the fact that poles are returning home with a fist full of dollars has put prices up a lot especially in real estate.

what about ireland then?this country became rich because of the eu help but ALSO because its own people coming back from overseas and investing their own money in bussines in ire.prices of houses,flats are rising very quickly in poland because a lot of foreigners investing in our country (especially in big cities)in small towns and rural areas prices rise slowly or remain at the same level

rafik..lets call a spade a spade, sure prices in capital ciities will always be strong, keep in mind that the polish real estate market has just taken off and if heading in an unknown direction, it may continue to grow or it may stabilse..

remember [b][/b][/i[i]]a property is worth only what a buyer is prepared to pay for it.

Remember it will do poland no good having foreign people own a lot of real estate and if polish home prices are high it will put the average pole out of reach of buying a house etc.

The price of homes should also relect what polish workers earn ie how could somebody afford a house worth say 400000zl and earns 2000zl a month, this is an impossibility.

Further factors to consider are

Political stability in poland
Corruption in poland
Climate ie having 8 months of cold/wet weather is not an attractive proposition(although weather in London is not much better)
and law enforcement (still very poor)
Huge cost associtated with heating.

unfortunately it is nothing good for us.the prices rose to the sky level in spain and france because of british but for a long time they have not fallen significantly even though that an average spaniard cant afford buying a property.i cant see that happend in poland(falling prices).in any country that joined the eu prices did not fall or maybe i am not right?i am not sure about greece and cyprus.

This is already the case in the UK!! poland is much more difficult by buy property (have looked in to buying in Krakow), certainly much more difficult than here.


All the above apply in the UK, the weather one made me laugh, in Manchester we have evolved and now have webbed feet due to the contined bad / wet, damp climate. However in Poland if the guy actually looked in to it, they have proper seasons, SPRING, SUMMER, AUTUMN AND WINTER ....I saw no crime in Krakow, I saw a Policeman on nearly every corner, not to mention those security type guys that they had......oh and the best, heating.....hmmmmm our utilities in the UK are one of the highest in Europe FACT!...I think people have a real misconeption about Poland.

The Polish people do not live in poverty, they do not eat beetroot soup and potatoes as their only diet, , they do not drink in the streets (well no more than in any other civilised country). They have some fab shops, excellent restaurants, amazing night life and this has been the case for some years now....Personally I have no idea what the fascination is about England.....it's fast becoming a shithole (I can say this I am English)

I think living in Ireland is nicer than in th UK.

i like england because it's multiracial and multicultural.you learn new ideas from others and others learn from you(apart from one group of people who i mentioned on a few ocasions).i'd like poland to be a similar country to uk and everyone is welcome who can benefit to our economy culture ect.Only whose who want to come here and live on the dole,spread hatred(as certain man did in finsbury park in london some time ago till he was deported) are not welcome-stay in your shi.t holes,far from europe

2000 PLN - after tax - is just fine.

on the other hand for some people 4000 PLN (after having a Masters degree in economics) or 10.000 PLN (after having a Masters degree in informatics and telecominication.. and having a lot of experience) after tax is fine.

Everything depends on the qualifications, experience and the job.

I have visited poland 10 times in the last 20 years and sure thinks have improved it still lacks a lot....there is still unfortunately a lot of poverty in poland and sure some people have it very well and are able to eat out, the majority of poles struggle from week to week.

Poland from my understanding has not got award wages and workplace agreements and are at the mercy of the employer to be paid (if they are paid)

I must make a point that this is a discussion forum and people should have proper manners, I cannot understand the likes of Wujek who loves putting the boots in, and is self opinioniated.

We are not living in pre communist times, this is a free society.

If I may add guys, living in Ireland, I feel I can clarify a few points for contributors.

The Irish question/situation is quite a complex one and probably unique within the western world. It joined EU in 1973 same time as UK, ok, got grants /aid etc, not a lot of improvement for say...10-15 yrs. then someone got the idea of luring big multi-nationals to the country to set up factories...esp the US..huge money poured in ( on top of EU grants), low corporation taxes...and most importantly....spoke English!!!!

Following so far? This then takes us up to the early nineties still things difficult, unemployment high..........still 12/13 percent ( had been 20% like Poland). The Irish had a habit of sending huge amounts of profit/money to off shore accounts, hiding it not paying tax on it...then the Goverment caught on, no longer acceptable to do so , court cases, fines so money began to stay in the country....jobs began to get better paid, people stopped leaving, people came back....houses got dear............Celtic tiger began to roar....louder and louder............profits began to flow...government got huge tax revenue, still getting aid from EU ( its running out shortly!!!)

Could this continue....?.....GDP going up by 10/12 per cent...no they all said......but the main driver in the last 5/6 years has been the building boom........its still going on...not sure when it will stop...ok.....growth now at 5/6 per cent but that is still double the average!!!

In just ten years.....1/3 of all house have been built.........in the Republic.......which is ten times the number in the UK!!!!!!!! Ths has been the main driver for wealth creation since the mid-nineties!

Amongst all this has been the Irish attitude towards risk/taking a chance......something Polish people perhaps need to change in their countries mentality............first steps have been taken.........joined EU...grants coming in....people going over seas to work....now its up to goverenment/leaders to spark the best ever phase in the life of all Polish people......it requires bravery/vision.....taking risks.....can Poland do it?

The unemployment rate is c.a. 15% ..10% if you`d take out all of those people who have work, but register as unemployed to hide their income and not to pay taxes ..and 5% if you`d take out all of the people who prefer to live from the unemployment benefits rather than searching for a job.

By those terms unemployment here in Britain is 0% because there are plenty of jobs which some people prefer the Polish etc to do - so they themselves can live forever on benefits.I blame all governments for the past 15 years for this situation.
