Are there any gaelgoirs based in Warsaw who would be willing to give me a hand in brushing up on my Irish (I guess there is a lot buried deep down but I've never had a chance to use it and am still fairly basic as a result). I would be really grateful if anyone was willing to even give skype a go. I already contacted the embassy to find out and did a bit of research online but seems there are no courses here, unlike in Poznan.

i have just ordered a few self-teaching books and have Des Bishop's great 'In the name of the Fada', which I found very inspiring.

My Polish is a million times better than my native tongue, unfortunately, and now that I am settled here in Poland, my goal is to ensure my daughter does not learn to grow up and hate the Irish language like her father did. If you are into pucking a ball around, having a pint or whatever as gaeilge, please let me know.

Go raibh mile maith agat.

A chara, have you had any luck with that? Fraid I don't live in Poland - tá mé i mo chónaí i mBÁC - but I was in Kraków this weekend, lovely place.

A couple of references of Irish/Polish interest in case you hadn't come across them: the Irish-language author Alan Desmond has written a book about the time he spent teaching in Lublin: http://siopa.ie/Leabhar.aspx?ID=38&lang=EN

There is also a nice novel for learners of Irish, written in fairly simple language with a glossary etc about a Polish girl who moves to Dublin. It's called Teach na gColúr - the Pigeon house

Go n-éirí an t-ádh leat ar aon nós!
