just wondering if I'm all alone here in Orange County, CA when it comes to Poles...? I really don't know if there's anyone else in my city who's Polish, as I'm not personally friends with anyone on this forum...

And every other place in the US except Chicago and New Jersey maybe. Truth is, Poles are under-represented in the US. Look at Chicago, the Italians, Greeks, Ukrainians, Irish, and even Germans have their own "towns" and "city centers" and the Poles who greatly out number all these groups have little to nothing. :-(

Their next big event will be the Dozynki in September, 2010. Certain to be loads of fun. Includes food, music, piwo, raffles, etc. (I like the etc. part the best, lol!)

A sincere thanks PF, for putting up with me FIVE terrific years, muah!

Yes there are some Poles in orange county although they are very reclusive. I have just started a meetup group call orange county polish group. It is located at the website of Meetup.com/The-Orange-County-Polish-Group/ As I literally just started it, there is not a lot to the group yet but if i can get some members who actually want to be involved i know off a lot of polish events that are going on both in orange county and Los angles, such as balls(dancing i mean)...etc. Please join up and maybe we can get some more Polish representation in orange county. Yes the harvest festival is going to be a big event, definitely go...

Why is it called Orange County anyway? Do they grow a lot of Oranges there? Or is this area somehow historically Dutch?

There used to be orange orchards there. It was a major industry. It's right next to Los Angeles County.

Oranges were replaced with people. Were used to be orchards, now are towns.

Okay, but where did the Orange-farming industry move to? (I smell a business opportunity here?)

Seriously? The farms are all over California and some parts of Florida and probably a few other states. It's still a major business.

I have a buddy of mine coming in to town "ORANGE COUNTY" from Poland. He has been here before to work for my family and vacation a little. I think he hung out at the Polish church in Yorba Linda where we live and met some people there. Anyone have any good restaurants/delis/ other for him to get his feet wet with? With work and every day life I want to make sure that when we have to work he has some fun stuff to do if we can't commit on some days to being there to be tour guides. Any feed back would be helpful. I appreciate it.

Did you mean in Orange County only? There's Polka Deli in Orange. It's very small but he might meet some people there. They all speak Polish.

If you mean Los Angeles, too, here's a topic that has a list of places:

There are Polish-Americans in Orange County such as myself, and there is some Polish History here as well. Our Saddleback Mountains contain a Modjeska Canyon so named for the famous Polish actress who lived there and was visited by many Polish notables including the illustrious author of the Trilogy, Henryk Sienkiewicz. Several paintings of Panna Modjeska are hanging in the lobby of the courthouse at our county's seat, the city of Santa Ana.
Orange County is indeed named for its once numerous orange groves. At the time the name was chosen the county was initially going to be named for what was then its largest settlement, but upon reflection "Anaheim County" was rejected for sounding "too German."

Ironically, I just made a reservation for a tour of the Modjeska House. The tours are scheduled 4 days of the month, including 2nd and 4th Saturday :)

Do you watch Huell Howser? He did a show on the Modjeska House.

I also saw an awesome documentary about her life. Bay Island in Newport Beach was once called Modjeska Island because she bought a house there.

There are literally over 100,000 Poles in Orange County. There is a Polish School in Yorba Linda at the John Paul ii polish center. The Polish National Alliance is well represented there. There is a Polam credit union in Orange. Hundreds of Polish folk dancers congregrate at the Polish center for various celebrations about once a month. The Polish American Congress has representatives all over Orange County check their website, as well as polish national alliance orange county groups.
