Hello!

I'm looking for friends in Poznan. I will be living part of the year in Poznan and part of the year in California. I'm a baby-boomer aged married woman - I like music, art, pets, staying fit (walking, hiking, bicycling etc.), cooking, reading/movies, nature, science, and learning new things. My husband is Polish and has been living with me in the US for more than 20 yrs. We are looking into business opportunities in Poland.

I would also appreciate any advice on shopping, laundromats, and neighborhoods in Poznan.

If you would be interested in getting together or have any advice on how to meet English speaking people, please post or email me.

Thanks!
SG

Hi guys.

Im a 37 year old male British guy. I arrived in Poland last Sunday, 23rd May. Scheduled to be here for 2 years (working on the new A2 motorway extention). Currently staying in hotel near Malta lakes. My employer is currently finding me an appartment and have suggested one near the river in Warta, is this area OK?

Im looking to venture into the city centre tonight and tomorrow night for a beer - Ive been advised to head for the viking bar in the old town where I might bump into some ex-pats. If there are any English speaking ex-pats looking to join me then feel free to text or ring me on 0044 7791 168284.

Cheers

Steve

Hi all! Thanks for the posts. I'm back in the US for now but will be going back to Poznan probably in September. My time in Poland recently was too busy to keep in touch with the Forum but I should be able to next trip.

To be blunt - if you have something to offer, then Poland can be rewarding. But if you don't have something that can't be done by Poles, then you'll find it incredibly difficult.

Is a Polish girl telling you that she's returning and that you can either go or break up with her?

If so, I can almost guarantee you that it will end in tears. There's very little here for native English speakers unless they can either teach or they get an "expat position". I've known of a few examples where people have came here, expecting to get a job - only to find that because they can't speak the language, they're effectively shut out of 99% of jobs.

Hello to all off you .
I discovered this forum accidentally, and I must admit that it's pleasantly surprising how many foreign people actually live in Poznań  I always supported the idea of exchanging experiences and cultures among people from different countries. Myself I've been traveling abroad every summer since I was 18 (to be frank I've been only to London and Greece, but it was intense as I've worked there among natives) and onec I've stayed over a year in London - the capitol of capitols. I must say that I miss those times, and using english language.
I am student of third year of journalism and communication studies, and in a week time I am going to take my final exam. From that time I am free for summer (this time staying in Poznań) and if you'd like to contact me sometime to get some advice about living in Poznań, or just to chat - feel free to write. Maybe we can meet up some day to go for a beer too.
Cheers :-D
