Cześć!

My name is Disa and I'm a swedish girl. I'm going to study Polish in Krakow spring semester 2011.
I'm coming alone so I want some new and cool friends! :D I've been to Krakow before and my absolute favourite club is The Complex and my fav restaurant is (as everyone else's) U babci maliny ;)

I studied polish for 2 semesters in Sweden so I speak and understand fairly good :) Polish is a huge passion of mine and I adore the people. Of course I'd love to have some polish friends but any other people from across the globe is awesome too! I'm open minded, happy, positive, full of energy, smart, beautiful, funny, happy-go lucky always got something going on, ambitious, up to crazy adventures and a really nice person in general ;D

I do dislike depressed people that don't like to enjoy their lives, so please don't contact me if you're pessimistic, depressed or negative xD

Also I am interested in finding some roomies for accomodation. I MIGHT, share an apartment if I come across some cool people.

Looking forward to hear from you guys! :D
Cheers!

P.S I'm not single ;D

I hope you can adapt to our culture and laws etc etc. We don't like emigrants that don't follow our laws, rules and customs!

Dude, not everyone is a pissed-up English feckwit on a stag night. We're not exactly proud of that lot either. So don't tar everyone with the same brush, eh?

BTW Did you read Thisa's post - seems a very clued-up, responsible and positive person to me - or just decide to kick in with the territorial pissings before the end of the first sentence?

Oh come on :)
Like I said polish is a big passion of mine, I am really fascinated by your mentality and customs. I'm not a disrespectful person, but you seem pretty negative! ;) I am contributing to building relationships and working possibilities between our two countries!

Suicide rate is still pretty high, it's really disturbing. I live an amazing life and I'm always happy and full of will to live, so it's such a shame not everyone can feel the same.

alexw68 Thanks, you got me right, I'm really responsible and positive. I wouldn't dream of going to Poland to vandalize and scorn their customs. I'm not going to join the whole JP community ;)

Well Thisa, not everyone is given the same opportunities in life; and it's always bad to assume rather than help. Confronting a depressed person with more downturns and offenses will only lead to more depression. You, I, everyone has the possibility of becoming depressed. In the 1990's the majority of Poland was depressed and in the gutter due to the economic turn down.

In Poland it's completely understandable that this kicked in. In today's Sweden with a very high social welfare it's absurd that so many persons are depressed. Every 4th high school girl is cutting herlself or have eating disorders. They have to have a horrible situation at home, because living in the swedish society grants nothing but wellbeing. Another disturbing factor is also that people in this age like to romatisize the depression. Meaning they think it's cool, and fall into these patterns to show off...

I've read in a recent newspaper article that we Poles are at the 1960's level in comparison with Swedes as far as our purchasing power goes. That is depressing.

Good for you ;)

While you're at it you can also send back all the loot you swedish barbarians stole from us during the deluge!

Enjoy Poland Mrs Positive!

But it's very good for the environment! :) We consume ridiculous ammounts of things just because we can, which I find depressing.

Don't worry about him: his parents will soon kick him out and he'll end up working in a fish processing plant in Grimsby.

If the following statement ever comes out of your mouth, PM me and I will put you in touch: "Shoot, I wish I could ask a fellow Swede about this who lives in Poland."

About sweden yes ;)

Sweden started to get civilized first after the second world war when the whole europe was devasted. After been neutral during the whole war Sweden found a way to profit and started to sell the basic stuff that european countries needed to rebuild their countries, iron, wood, machines etc etc. Before that Sweden was just a dark and cold country in the north. Today Sweden strugles to keep the economy and wellfare intact and your Anti-emigrant party is on the rise. They even got like 5,7% of the votes in the election.

Curious how you'll like it. Why did you pick Kraków? Disa sounds like an unusual name btw.

Hope you'll enjoy it.

Hejsan, Thisa!

Valkomna hit-:)) I'm curious about your interest in Poland generally and Polish specifically. As one who speaks several languages fluently apart from my mother tongue English ("father tongue" in Polish, by the wayLOL), among them Swedish and German, I began learning Polish at around thirty years of age. I found it an uphill battle at first, then after, it became much easier. English for you folks is the opposite; it begins soooooo so easy, then gets SOOOOOOoo,so difficult, right?

Have you read any Polish literature such as Mickiewicz, Słowiacki, Tuwim or Ewa Szymborska? I know Strindberg and have read some Swedish authors in the original. My favorite Swedish filmaker is Ingmar Bergman. How about you?

I'd be interested in your thought (in Swedish, Polish or English, if you prefer to practice the latter)
