Pensions for immigrants

A 50 year old Polish woman I know has told me that she's going to move to England for the 5 years to work. After this time she will return to Poland and claim a UK state pension (approx £80 a week).

For her, 1600zl a month is a very comfortable sum for a pensioner (excluding her Polish pension).

Does anybody have any information on pensions for immigrants? I can't find any official info but if what I've been told is true, it's a damn good idea!

the way things are going, 1600 wont be quite so comfortable in 5 years time... oh well...

as far as I know you need to work at least 11 years for that (men) 10 (women)

an indian/pakistani/somali ect. family bring their grandparents into the uk and they get their pensions straight away without even completing one day's work.how does it sound?

it is highly unlikely that anything will be paid before the woman reaches retirement age...
£80 sounds quite high after only 5 years work and i am also unsure if they pay when you are not living here anymore.

well... they would be kind of stupid if they would pay for other countries pensioners.

imagine the following scenario:
if the above works then any (eu)-state with too many people close to retirement and low living standards would send all their 60 year old people to the uk to be able to claim pensions???

how cool would that be?

One has to work at least 10 years and in 10 years GBP in Poland won't be worth much anymore.

If anybody worked legally long enough to get a pension then It rather doesn't matter where they live.

They do the same in canada. They also pack 3 generations of families into 1 house which allows them to buy nice, big houses.

to all benefits while later living in another meber state originating
from this employment. This is also true with the US. People working
in the US cann add their labour time period to gain the retirement benefits in
Poland as well vice versa if they decide to retire in the US.
There are treaties with the EU.
