Aww...Pennsylvania can be pretty too

It can, but its just not home. I'd rather be in Lapsze Nizne or Nowy targ right now. Would love to just go sight-seeing for weeks and catch up on my Polish

I'm the blonde one holding the camera. The only American. Everyone else (all my friends in the video) were from Poland. And don't worry about your speakers. They wouldn't have helped because the music covers any and all voices

Here we arrive at he village of Buk located in Southeast Poland; it is a part of Cisna.
It is the village where my mother-in-law was born and passed her youth.
Her name was Maria CZERWINIAK. She was a Lemko.
In 1940 she was only15, and taken for forced labour by the Germans.
After WW II. she came to Belgium with her boyfriend. She never saw again her village which was destroyed by Ackja Wisla.
I apologize for my mediocre English (I’m Belgian).
To be continued.

Hello Miranda.
Thanks, for your interest.
Together with my wife « Jeanine » I visited this area three weeks ago and I have a lot of pictures to share.
Here at Buk, along the river « Solinka » a little monument. The church (cerkwa), which no longer exist, was located, behind the photographer, at the other side of the road.
In 1921 the village population was 294 people; now there are 45 people.

Sequel2
That’s wath one sees at the other side of the road. Once, that almost plane field contained 49 houses and a cerkwa (census 1921) from the Lemkos.
I suppose, God the Father was not content that His cerkwa had been destroyed and He decided to destroy a new construction by fire.
Now Buk has not any church.
To be continued.

Sequel3
According to explanations of our mother, this is the spot where her parent’s house stood. When looking in the way of the river, one can see the bridge over the river and on the other side a little plane field (now a campsite) where stood the house of our mother’s cousin called Rozalia SOKOLOWSKA. The latest had also be taken by the Germans; she was only 14 years old. After the war she came to Belgium together with our mother. In 1944 or 1945 Rozalia’s mother was expelled to Urkraine. Rozalia never saw again her village, nor her mother and brother. Our grandparents lived underground in the forest during that period, afraid to be expelled. Their youngest daugther (an other Rozalia) is born in the forest.
