Admin,

I have just checked my 'sent items' and found that it doesn't show my recent sent items.

How do I know if these posts have been received ?

What is blocking them ? As they are replies to questions asked by members.

One of these was/is a very important post, which I can't rewrite because I threw my notes away just after posting.

I checked and it seems it's working correctly. The "SENT" folder keeps 30 recent sent messages (if you sent 40 messages, only 30 latest sent messages are kept there; the oldest 10 are automatically deleted).

Admin,

I haven't even sent twenty.

Does it mean that whoever wrote to me also has me on their blocked list ?

I'm still unsure what you mean. You try to PM someone but you get a message about being blocked?

1. I receive a message
2. I write a reply, fill in the persons name in the lower box, and then press send
3. The next day I get no reply, so I check sent items
4. I find that none of my posts over the past week have been sent

5. Would I get a message saying I was blocked ?

Admin, I have just sent you a PM. Please let me know if you receive it.

6. Is it possible for people to send PM's, but at the same time choose not to receive them ?

I think you confused the buttons a bit. It seems you wrote a reply, but instead of clicking on the "Send" button, you again filled out the username and clicked on the "OK" button (I've just change the name of this button to "OK").

You should only use the "OK" button if you want to send a quick message to a member whose username or userid you know; if you reply to a PM message, just click on the "Send" button to send it.

5. Would I get a message saying I was blocked ?

No, you will get the message if you try to send a message to the user who has blocked you.

6. Is it possible for people to send PM's, but at the same time choose not to receive them ?

You can block users on individual basis; you cannot block them all by default.

Admin,
people send me PMs and some of them go to my PF mailbox and some to my private e-mail... And it's ok, but why massages are not send to one place?

Because some people don't understand the difference between PM (Private Message) and PE (Private Email) feature.

When clicking on your Profile, logged-in users have two options:

1) PM you (so that you can read the messages on the site only),

2) Send a private email to your email account (using a contact form; users do not see your email address), provided you set up to allow contact by email.

Both features may be needed (for example, if you for some reason don't visit PolishForums, some users may still send you a private message by private email form).

The "SENT" folder keeps 30 recent sent messages

why are more 'sent' messages able to be stored than 'received'?

it seems one can have 30 sent messages while only 20 in the inbox.

What happens if you try to send a message? Your inbox isn't related to your ability to send messages (unless you try to PM a person who is over quota in Inbox)..

last time this happened i got an error message on top, similar to the timeout or flood control except it said that there were too many messages in the inbox and i couldn't send any out untill i had less. i don't know the exact words but that was the essence of it

i also got a flood control message once too.. maybe 2 or 3 days ago but the PMs were buringin up

This message says you have reached your limit in the received (inbox) folder. The current limit is 30. Making sure you don't have over 30 messages in your inbox will solve the problem.

You can send a new PM within 30 seconds of sending the last PM.

I've just sent you one.. but then it won't be a good test since the moderation staff can send PMs even to users who have exceeded their quota, so play with someone else ;).
