and I can see why most people soon give up and leave.

They leave because there are some people who enjoy putting others down.

before I came to Canada, i thought very less people know poland. After i am in canada, i feel some people do know poland! although polish community is not very big, but is not so bad that people do not know where it is! :D

poland is a country, people find many thing about it. Some i can like, some not :), but it is no problem! people do know poland, mostly.. the way a country like ours is supposed to be known generally. it is normal

A lot of people have now been to Poland and know all about it. There are people near Czestochowa who used to live in Canada and returned to Poland. Mind you, I would not do a thing like that myself.

More people probably know that Poland is a country and roughly where it is, than know the difference between Great Britain and the UK, what are England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Island, the Channel Islands, the Isle of Man...

I will also add that my American cousin, who lives now in Las Vegas, has traveled the whole world and has run trade delegations in China and in other places all over the world all of his working life. There are a lot of well educated men in the United States and well traveled people too and to say that they think that the rest of the world lives in huts is really very stupid of you.

I feel like the American public school system is not very advanced, they learn mostly about the United States and there is obviously not a huge emphasis put on global history/culture, even American knowledge of Canada is poor, I would not say that most Americans are well traveled, many yes, but most, no.
Especially by seeing all these American game shows...I could answer some of the questions when I was 8 that some of these grown men and women didn't know the answers to, primarily concerning anything about other parts of the world.

But Americans are happy, they have a different attitude towards life than Poles, are more relaxed, don't try to cheat in everything as they do in Poland, where everyone is more tense and nervous. Americans are more advanced in medical technology and space exploration. They are more honest than they are in Poland.
Take the US Postal Service for example. If a mail carrier was caught stealing mail, the punishment is very severe, loss of job, arrest, big fine and their name is known as a fraud forever. In Poland stealing mail is common, specially during christmas, when Americans send money in cards. Sometimes they get the card, but with no money, or the open mail is found in a ditch. And although Polish Postal service does punish these carriers, it is not severe enough of an offense and it continues to be a problem.

thats one reason to which stops me from sending, even though I do. I feel very
safe sending to church.. theres never been a problem so far.. least to my knowledge.

but I suppose the church has high respect. so if A mail carrier stole from a church and
was found out, that would be pretty bad..

and outgoing.. its more of the how to afford..

we arent free of faults.. we have plenty, I just wish people didnt have such a bad
feeling about the people. and yes I guess it does depend on where you visit too..

Ok. Example. They take pictures in school. In the US all kids smile, in Poland they have serious faces.

True, they have only one thing on their mind.. money money money, a great attribute!

Hmmm.. lets not throw mud on every Polish person and assume every Polish person is a thief and dishonest.
Let me say there are more honest people living in Poland today than there are honest people living in the USA.. (now thats got you thinking)
There may be postal thefts in the Polish Mail system, which is uncommon in the US, wow big deal, it doesn't pay for a US postal worker to steal as it doesn't pay a US policeman to take a 20$ bribe, not worth it, The thief in the US has his sights set on the bigger pie, ie corporate fraud, internet fraud, credit card and other scams, thats where the money is.
If people are silly enough to send cash in the mail system knowing full well it is not secure, well suffer the consequences!

I don't know what that has to do with the price of eggs in China! The weather and food in the UK is pretty basic. The same question could be put to you: What are you doing in Poland? Get real.

I'm generalizing lef. You're right. There are greedy thiefs everywhere. But living in Poland and in Us I noticed some differences. They use bribes more in Poland.
Kids cheat in Polish schools, in US they can expell and punish such students.
You bribe Polish professors to accept a student. Bribing in some US jobs is illegal.
Money talks.

In the US and Oz only the rich have the chance of higher education, at least in Poland higher education is cheap.

I've noticed a big difference in the attitude of younger police in Poland, they are more professional and dedicated, if you were to offer a bribe, they would just laugh at you, a big change to what was occurring back in previous years.

Its all happening in Poland Krysia, praise the Lord and pass the sauce :>))))

There are many like BubbaWoo in Poland today, half his luck what he does, undoubtedly there are Poles in GB who have exploited the system and are freeloading there!!
I honestly believe that native Poles will not deal with Irish/British real estate salesmen, they prefer there own. We are yet to see what tricks the Sub Prime Mortgage crisis in the US has in Poland? With a low US dollar home prices can only go in one direction.

No, I have heard that Polish police are very corrupt and it still depends on bribes. I have an English friend, married to a Polish woman and they returned by car to Poland, as they often do and he was stopped for speeding. He was given a choice, either pay thirty dollars, or however much it was, as I do not remember now, up front to the policeman, or pay a much heftier fine. The Poles accept anything, they lie and lie and lie. Never be so naive. The Puzzler for example, does not even know the difference between oczu and oczów! In Poland, trust no one.

When i first arrived in Poland i was not used to having to carry all my documents on me when driving my car or riding my motorcycle...Before i got used to doing this i must have been stopped about five times , and i did not have my documents on me...The police were quite within their rights to fine me money for my ignorance , but none of them ever did....They told me i must carry my documents at all times , told me how much the fine was , and then sent me on my way without any penalty...maybe its because i am English , they wanted to give a good impression , maybe they were just nice guys , but i have no complants about the Polish police.....

Hmmm, that may have occurred during the communist period, I have always found Polish Police helpful and trying to do the right thing.. by the way Michal, do yourself a favour and revisit Poland, things have changed in the last 30 years. (if you can't afford the cost, perhaps you may ask this forum to start up a collection...lol)

- Ad now the Orwellian piggy pretending-to-be-English and expert on the Polish language is using a blatant lie - accusing somebody of a shameful deed that the piggy itself has done. The piggy once wrongly used the form of the Polish word: 'oczy' (eyes), Puzzlerek ridiculed the piggy for that, and the disgraced piggy is now oinking that it's Puzzi who used the word wrong. The piggy counts that every one in this forum has already forgotten piggy's post with the error and so they can be easily brainwashed into believng what piggy repeatedly tells them (according to Goebbels' rule that a lie repeated ten times becomes truth). That's the way the Orwellian kosher piggies are. Shoulod you ever trust them?
:)
PS, I'll be keeping a close eye now on the piggy's antics in the Polish language section, and pointing its total ignorance of the Polish language.

It depends on what persons...
Some think it's a Central European country. Warsaw is the capital city, and the president is Lech Kaczyński, and the PM Donald Tusk.
Others may think that it's a far away country, up in the North, where it snows most part of the year and where penguins usually meet Poles at the supermarkets. People live in igloos, and go fishing for a living. LoL
I have friends who think i'm a Viking (because of my physical appearance), so, what about Poland : Viking land... :) Actually, many people do think that...
