Poland known for their sweets?

Hi everybody,
I was just wondering if someone here could enlighten me. I noticed there was a link to a Polish chocolate website. Being the chocolate lover I'm, I went there out of curiosity... And there I found a lot of brands and sweets. I was shocked, I didn't know Poles had so much sweets to offer!! Does anybody know, then, which are the best? Is the website accurate? I would be curious to know that, the chocolates looked very good and the prices were VERY low (you know the kind of situation where you say: it's too good to be true). Therefore, I was wondering if some expert would be willing to help this not-Polish person!

Thanks in advance!

how much would you all say that polish sweets have changed since the fall of communism... are they essentially the same or have there been marked differences in types and manufacturing processes...?

hey! I posted a little question in the General Discussions forum... but no one answered So here I'm, trying again!... I was wondering if someone would be able to tell me if the website shown in the General Discussions forum (www.chocoladka.com) is accurate about the Polish chocolates? Which ones are the best?

Humm... Thanks!

you can just post under the same topic without starting a new one. it would 'refresh' your topic under the recently discussed without the need to flood the forum with the same topic over and over.

its not a big crime, it just keeps thing clean

from an english perspective, polish sweets, whilst quite nice, tend to be a little old fashioned... the sort of thing granny gave you thirty years ago...

ohhh I see... but wouldn't that mean they taste better then? isn't it better the "old granny way" nowadays where all is transformed and mixed in an Industrial, full of sugar and chemicals way? .... or am I just being an idealist?

My brother-in-law used to send over loads of chocolate. I seem to remember Wedel had really good ones, then he started sending the Wawel ones. Ptaskie Mlecko is nice and sweet... several flavours to choose from.

Tica, everything on that website is fabulous! If you like chocolate, the Solidarność Golden Pralines assortment is just wonderful, and if you prefer bars - then Wedel, or Wawel, or Goplana. Be sure to try Wawel's Kasztanki (chocolates or bar) - this is a very specific type of filling (cannot recall anything similar I've tasted anywhere), incredibly yummy!
Probably, whatever you buy, you'll be delighted. There are no bad Polish sweets :D
