do you know what happen in China now?

It might also have something to do with the strength of the Euro - this will restrict exports from Europe

Look, the way I see it,none of us on this forum are the big men in charge,we've a chance to talk acroos cultures here and maybe all sides can learn something.
I really feel we are at a cross roads,we can either divide up into 2 armed camps, full of distrust and risk enough bloodshed to fill another ocean...ie copy the mistakes of the 20th century,or,we can try and work things out.Maybe our various leaders will do the deciding but we at least can say NO enough of that last century,we are not being manipulated by fear and missunderstanding ever again.
(can I have my UN merit badge now please)

Too pacifistic. I thought I was reading an ending of a cheap, paperback melodrama.

You should be careful with statement like that. They tend to kill threads ;)

Do you always follow blindly what others tell you? No attempt to check if what they say really makes sense?

This sentence should be forwarded to Bratwurst Boy. I have told him he should go to China personally rather than learning news ONLY from some TV talk show.
Seeing is believing!

Did you ever follow the reports? The US government admitted in the end, the Chinese factory made the toys according to the prescription provided by the US. It is not our faults!!!

China is one of the worst nations in the world as far as human rights is concerned along with other countries such as DR Congo, DPRK North Korea and Zimbabwe, i don't think france looks that bad now your looking at some of the countries on a par with China.

1. What is your definition of human rights?
2. Have you ever been to China,Congo, North Korea and Zimbabwe? (Of course, you never!)
3. Are you happy to see a prosperous, stable China?
4. Do you think you are a good guy with good characteristics? making comments without any prejudice?
5. Moreover, if China was such a bad country, why do lots, lots of foreigners from Europe, USA live in China, work in China? Are they all fools? and you are the smartest one in the world???

Im afraid pender that Bratwurst does have a point, you are posting many questions to which you rightly expect a reply but on the other hand you have not replied to any questions put to yourself.

You want to know the truth? To be frankly, your English is poor, some words are wrong typing. Not every question you asked I understand. ^_^. But I can not complaint you. Because you told me did not receive a university degree! ^_^

So do NOT tell me why the people in China does answer your question again, when you visit China one day. Because your pronunciation of Chinese words are not correct. Normally, they ignore you!!!

That's not friendly of you all. Being ignored because you try to speak the native language and mis-pronounce?

I just suppose that might be one reason people why does not respond you. Or they might be too busy to answer your questions, etc. But for me, Bratwurst Boy does not ask questions in standard English, and sometimes there are mis-typing words,slang...

Yes that must be it...Westerners are just to stupid to understand chinese ways! :(

The whole World should boycott these Olympics. I am truly ashamed that my President is going to Beijing for the opening Ceremonies. The fact that the Olympics were awarded to Beijing speaks volumes on how corrupted the Olympic Committee is.
China should be put on trial for their atrocities in Tibet.

That's a bit unrealistic really - it's every athletes dream to compete, it's a shame that it's been overshaddowed by the recent events, but it has highlighted what goes on in the world to people who wouldn't normally take an interest in politics.

What newspaper was this reported in? The lead paint manufacturers' association news. The US does not prescribe lead in paint for children's toys.

If you were an athlete, it was your rights not to attend competition. but if you persuade other athletes to do so, that means you does NOT respect his/her human rights. Do you think you are an adult and others are kids. They need you to tell them what to do???

I am very surprised why you are NOT selected as a president, you are extremely smart! It is the great loss of USA...

The concept is called freedom of expression. If an athelete feels so strongly about not attending the games, it is his or her right to express those feelings to other atheletes, and the reasoning for not attending. The other athelete also has the choice, "Should I stay or Should I go?" Nobody is being treated as a child.

Sarcasm is not a good way to make people want to hear your side of the argument.

One needs to ask: Is the Chinese Media equally as objective as Western Media?

It is not a show. It is daily TV news. If you can read Chinese I can show you some information. Please donot let me translate in English, or I ignore you...

Why not? I have to ask you:Is the Western Media equally as objective as Chinese Media? Maybe I did not know the truths something happened outside China, but for the facts inside China, you bet I knew more information than other Western Media.

Finally,let's watch a video:

F15guy:
What TV show?

People's daily news, the only objective news source in China, with emphasis on "the only".

However if you are not in China you can listen to China Radio International in English which is by accident the same news agency. If you have listened to the radio (or read its webpage regularly) you would know that:

-China is a country full of happy friendly people except for notorious rebels and terrorists that try to disturb the peace
-Tibet was not annexed in 1949 but accepted to the great Chinese family after over 300 years of friendship
-Chinese factories didn't put lead paint on the toys, make lead infected children overalls, fire hazard heaters, driers that could electrocute you, shocking extension cords, poisonous pet food, floating eyeballs filled with kerosene etc. it was either a deliberate sabotage, requested by the original manufacturers themselves or lies spread by foreign propaganda.
-Dalai Lama is a terroristic activist that tries to disturb the olympics even though he supports it (CRI in contrast to Reuters), despite the sabotage the Chinese government is always ready to begin peaceful talks
-Polish people cheered with large PRC flags when Hu Jintao visited in 2004, they might have looked like chinese embassy workers but were honest Polish people, except for the bright skinned saboteurs with "Falun dafa" posters which weren't even worth mentioning.
-other funny stuff that remind us of the censored media in Poland 30-40 years ago

you uninformed westerners :P
It's also impossible to find most of the news in any other media.

I tried to comment in a Chinese forum and it had to go through an approval process :)

Regardless of the protests, the games will go on. Unfortuantely, the horrible atmosphere may hinder the endurance sport athletes. Putting all of ther politics aside, I think it was the wrong place to hold the games because of the pollution.

I don't understand why the IOC didn't forsee pollution being an issue. Wonder how much it cost them :P

Wow,Makdaam,that websites a cracker :)
ok,normall story till you get to the last sentence :O
"Beijing is going to ban smoking in most of its public areas, but restaurants, bars and cafes will still have smoking areas as business owners are concerned of loss of customers. What's your opinion on the smoking ban? Should we enforce it gently or fiercely?"

or this classic;
" Should We Build Slum Areas in City?
Professor Qin Hui from the prestigious Tshinghua University suggested that the Shenzhen government take the initiative to build districts for the poor in order to provide legal and affordable housings for migrant workers "
