with Tibetans and Chinese, in my prayers. I pray to God that USA and EU won`t `help` them to be `democratic` and `batter` to each others.

most of Slavs agree that Slavs honestly believe in democracy and human rights, while so called west using democracy and human rights as tools for its own strategic goals.

"EU parliament offers platform to Dalai Lama"

"BRUSSELS, March 26 (Reuters) - The head of the European Parliament invited the Dalai Lama on Wednesday to address the EU legislature on events in Tibet and questioned whether European leaders should attend the opening of the Beijing Olympic Games."

Good to see you on our side Crowie! :)

Because the other EU members like a peaceful approach. I have changed my position a little and feel that the boat could be rocked somewhat. The Dalai Lama has done wonders to promote noble causes and is an inspirational speaker

Can't u read lad? When sb says I talk like an unscrupulous dictator, I expect an apology as that's WAAAAAAY wide of the mark.

Try to read it a different way. I said the other EU members like a peaceful approach, which isn't necessarily the best one. I said b4 that boycotting was wrong but I've changed my mind to move towards that position.

DO u understand what 'the Dalai Lama has done wonders' even means boy? Noble cause, szlachetne powody (noble causes) and inspirujący mówca.

I saw how u read what I wrote but u picked it up wrong

LUSATIAN SORBS

The German government announced the closure of a Sorbian speaking school in Lusatia, Saxony. 4,000 Sorbian students protested against forced Germanization of their language.

BTW Since Germany does not recognize Serbia in its UN borders why should you expect Serbia to recognize Germany in its UN borders? The establishment of a free and independent Sorbia should be our outmost priority now!

So Bratwurst Boy, following your logic shall we all start boycotting Germany or leave politics out of sports altogether? Put yourself in the position of the athletes who were training since they were 6 years old, just for a once in a lifetime chance to compete for an Olympic medal? Keep in mind, the games are held once every 4 years and the duration of a professional career of a sportsman is very limited.

Some in Europe are calling for a boycott of the Olympic ceremonies not the entire event..... and I agree...... the ceremonies provide some leverage over China that isn't so readily available without a high cost.... If we enact economic santions the world economy can suffer however if we boycott the ceremonies only China's pride suffers.... Granted this will only work if countries stick together so China can't single out any one country to retaliate against...

Hmmm...I don't know about you but sorb speaking- and teaching schools and peaceful demonstrations for their causes don't look like "germanized" nor "enslaved" to me...
Thank you for proving how right I was! :)

Sarkozy has been fairly vocal about the boycott and it seems he will follow suit...

As far as Mrs. Merkel, Im not sure where she stands however I know several people in the German government have made such calls...

As for Brown, he seems the least likely to do so... However if more countries join it might tip the balance...

I guess we can only wait and see......

correction

It is Russia who helping us, not the opposite and, not to srew brotherly Slavs in EU but, to show them way to Slavic civilization, to announce to Slavdom that era of slavery has been finished and that Slavic children can walk with dignity

matthias wrote:

on the long run, you can expect positive resolve of this Polish move only having in mind that Poland belong to Slavic world, not caunting on fact that Poland is in EU.

one more article about Poland snubbing the Olympic ceremonies......

If a parade of deviants in the middle of some European street would be banned then Brussels would yell noisily endlessly. However if people in China are killed they don't find it necessary to work together. Because if they would work together then Tusk would not made such individual announcements. If I will read later that finally the EU decided to join him then it means that Poland is treated as a cannon fodder by Brussels bureaucracy and our sellouts in government have nothing against.

Beside of that, opening ceremony without politicians will be more healthy. Why cannot they allow whole team to boycott ceremony? At least somebody would notice it in TV, because some says that events not covered by media do not really happen.

I agree 100% with that statement...... Their was more condemnation when Kaszynski was mayor banning the gay pride parade, then now when people are actually dying in the protests in Tibet..... to me the EU is weak and cowardly....... Poland did good by not following in their footsteps....

No one is preventing athelete's from boycotting, it's their personal choice.... It's not like the government can make them compete....

Oh come on Matthias!
Brussels protested because the twins acted against EU-Laws...laws Poland subscibed to as they entered the European Union.
Tibet or China is not EU-territory! It's not even in Europe. Outside of this Olympiade there is not much the EU can do anyhow to show China the finger...
Please broaden your anger and distaste to your own government too and to any other country...
