actually the US has been attacking China about human rights for years.......

http://archives.cnn.com/2001/US/02/26/rights.report/

old article to show you that the US has been critizing China for years....

http://news.xinhuanet.com/english/2008-03/13/content_7777255.htm

something more recent to show you that the US continues to do so...

However as to the boycott, you do make a point....

It's official. Tusk announced today that Poland will boycott the opening ceremonies at least. Poland is the first European country to officially speak out. This makes me nervous about those Chinese-Europe contracts but I can't say I'm not proud of my country. Bravo Polska!

She will surely take her time...quick spontaneous decisions are not her thing.
But I count on her, she decided to honor the Dalai Lama inspite the enormous pressure the Chinese put on her...calling her names, mobbing german business, threats etc....
We will see!

Are you sure? How can you be so sure?

Do you consider German society as example of one democratic society, of society which respect human rights?

To conclude truth you don`t need to analize German position on Tibet situation. Just look on Lusatian agony or how Germany hurry to occupy Serbian Kosovo.

How we come in this situation brate? BBC, CNN, ITN, AL JAZEERA, CROATIAN TV, DEUTSCHE WELLE- would tell you that Serbs are Nazis. They BLA BLA everything what is needed to provide excuse for actions of their governmants

And, look at us here... Serbs defend international order, principles of suveregnity of countries, peacefull coexistance of different races, non-violant methods in international relations... and, those who were/are against Serbs prepare world on new conquest. THEY have all reasons to continue their conquest in order to keep their dominace. Logicaly

Even if it was, so what? IQ tests are still done according to the old conception of intelligence. It is such a rounded concept these days. I've noticed that people who think they are intelligent either have complexes or are aloof. And don't get me started on people who think they are beautiful, no siree

don't tell me IQ aren't a good measure.... not perfect but it's funny how I know people with IQ's of 140 and their genuses and I know people with IQ's in the 90's and their stupid as h*ll....

And it's not about thinking your intelligant.... the test determines that.....

IQ tests encompass mathematical tests and others that non-mathematically minded people struggle with. It doesn't mean they aren't intelligent. It just means that their brains don't work that way.

Intelligence is more than a simple test examines, u said so urself.

Many intelligent people, in the classic sense, are maladjusted. Intelligent decisions often have little to do with mathematics, more about practical analyses and assessments. Intelligent actions have to do with doing what's right in the situation. Intelligent thought is the ability to establish correlations and see connections between disparate threads and weave them together. Intelligent behaviour is that which shows maturity and a clever evaluation of the situation. Forget ur old Maths tests and broaden the parameters.

that's not true..... at least not the tests in America.... they measure reasoning, memory, language, and several other areas....

I agree, doesn't mean that IQ scores are irrelavant.... They go a long way but are not the only measure..... either way they provide a good basis....

Erm...now not only don't IQ tests not count, intelligent people are now "maladjusted" too? Oh well...
I think you are talking about "emotional" or "social" intelligence and you are right that is often not the core of an IQ tests which mostly test rather cognitive and analytical skills and abilities.

Here is a nice article about how the IQ tests developed and got better and more meaningful: URL

What do you think about the Mensa? URL

"... Membership in Mensa is open to persons who have attained a score within the upper two percent of the general population on an approved intelligence test that has been properly administered and supervised. There is no other qualification or disqualification for membership eligibility.

The term "IQ score" is widely used but poorly defined. There are a large number of tests with different scales. The result on one test of 132 can be the same as a score 148 on another test. Some intelligence tests don't use IQ scores at all. Mensa has set a percentile as cutoff to avoid this confusion. Candidates for membership in Mensa must achieve a score at or above the 98th percentile on a standard test of intelligence (a score that is greater than or equal to that achieved by 98 percent of the general population taking the test). ..."

They are dependent from politicians, sport is often financed from state budget. I don't believe that they have free choice in Poland.

Aside note, would you agree also with the results of the this IQ test?

If u examine one area with credible questions, then u have a better case but IQ, per se, has been diluted as a single concept. Emotional IQ is the new biggie.

An effective memory is more connected with the ability to mind-map and prioritise that which is important 2 u. Read Tony Buzan, he says that anybody can do it with some training and perseverance. Or that Bulgarian scientist, Lozanus I think.

I didn't say IQ tests were irrelevant. We just shouldn't place heavy reliance on them when so many other factors determine success and survival in the rat race. Experience being high among them.

Adaptability is another new one that really tests people. This shows the broad nature of intelligence. Only when we add up the some of the parts, do we see the whole. Therefore, it's not easy to pull random numbers out of the hat. It's overly complicated to do so.

You might be right that it's not easy.... however a government cant make an athlete compete.....

this test makes sense..... Russia, France, Serbia at the near bottom..... Germany, Netherlands and Poland near the top.... yeah I accept it...
