I just hope the aphids and vine-weevils don't agree with the death penalty - I'd be done for.

So if there are no EU countries who still have capital punishment, what was the reason the proposal was made :S ?

Probably against countries like China where they still have capital punishment. In fact, today in China, they execute more people per year than the rest of the World put together.

In extreme bad taste I would say at least they have such a large population..?

I suppose that could be a reason, a united front as an example to the other countries who still have capital punishment.

Per capita, China is a little way down on the list of number of executions.

According to Amnesty International, Kuwait had the highest number of known executions per capita in 2006, followed by Iran. But it's difficult to be certain of the number of executions in China, as the official statistics are a state secret. Amnesty thinks as many as 8000 people may have been executed in China in 2006. If that's true, China would be top per capita. See web.amnesty.org/library/Index/ENGACT500042007 - Death sentences and executions in 2006.

Yes and they also shoot people with great care through the head so as not to damage the reatiners of the eyes-they sell the body parts on to third parties after death.

Some time ago, an ex work colleague was working in Saudi Arabia. His next door neighbours were from South Korea. They killed a pakistani and cut him up and put his body parts in the fridge. One of the South Koreans later became ill from the bad 'food' he was eating and they took him in to hospital. When they found out it was human meat he had been eating they (the Saudis) cut both their heads off. In Saudi Arabia they often cut people's heads off on a Friday. If you are from South Korea or Poland they give you an injection and slice the head off but if you are from England or America it is very rare.
