:) Not a football fan in general, but have to say I had a few smiles at work today over the radio.

Why Kazakhstan is playing in the Euros is anyone's guess..
But still, since I didn't see the match, it's hard to say, but it's really a question of Poland holding it together and beating Belgium in Chorzow next week, and then they've qualified, as far as I've read in Gazeta Wyborcza.
Smolarek is a top class player, really, but it's a shame the boy doesn't turn up more often.

sorry, wrong information about game with Belgium - that's the last game, on 17th November. If Poland wins that, they're through.

Cause they are part of European football "union". And it gives 3 pts to Poland, so why complain ;)

that's very true. but doesn't explain how they get into the European football union when they're in Asia - but hey, they're not the only ones!

Really pleased Ebi has put in this kind of performance - he's the only Polish outfield player making a name for himself in a club in high profile league, and he is leading the way.

If one believes that Europe is part of the Eurasian continent, which is to the West of the Ural mountains and the Ural river, then Kazakhstan is European since a part of it is to the West of the Urals. In Spring 2002, Kazakhstan joined the UEFA, the European football association, which is the one that defines its members by the geographical location.

So i guess Kazaks are part European

Kazakhstan is in Europe. Not much explanation required! Look at a recent map!

soccer

Here it's called football :P American people called a sport football which has nothing to do with the feet...(or almost)
Plus, it's a European sport, so the name football should be used only for our sport !! ;P LoL

in North America it is called soccer so people don't confuse the game with tackle football. However you wish to call the game soccer or football makes no differnence as it is a world sport and not soley a European game.
