Tell me about it - I don't think calling it an "off day" quite covers it...

now i'm starting to think that english football is overrated

You wish mate.The English Premiership is the BEST in the world. Many have tried to copy it and many have failed. Spanish football may be a close second, Italians third.now where does Croatia football fit in to the best clubs in the world again? :))

german league is quite weak comparing to premiership,but talking about national teams...
my mistake,premiership is the most exciting league,english and spanish national teams are most overblown.sorry mate,but that's the way it is for now.
it would be better if you had british team,you would have giggs,mc fadden,keane...

things are getting better,Dinamo Zagreb eliminated Ajax from competition,in the middle of Amsterdam.club would be better with eduardonow in arsenal and corluka now in manchester city

Well,I guess we will just have to see how much English football is overatted when England face Croatia at Wembley next month. :)) BTW Giggs is getting on a bit now,and his best years are behind him.

well taken goal .... but by all accounts he was in an offside position , so the goal should not count !

Unlucky England , who I thought were the better team for at least 69 minutes; the English seem to think they lost because of a dubious penalty decision., but ignore the fact that Roomey's goal should have been disallowed.

At the end of the day I think Russia showed more passion after they scored their goals and no doubt the atmosphere in the stadium carried them through.

It's still not over as Russia have to win in Israel which will not be an easy task.

England ... had their fate in their own hands, but now have to pray other results go their way !

Serbia winning last night ... as well as Belgium and Portugal;

Polska needs to concentrate in their final games so they don't blow it ! Euro qualification is in Polska's own hands !!

Did you actually see the goal? Please tell me how was he offside when when he was clearly behind one of the Russian defenders?

Yes I was watching the game on TV here in London. When Rooney scored the goal, I thought it must have been close as to whether Rooney was in an offside position when Owen flicked the ball on;

The commentators even mentioned Rooney might have been offside – when Russia was awarded the dubious penalty they commented that this might even out Rooney’s offside goal :o) I even read in one of today’s English papers that there was a valid claim that Rooney was offside.

They say bad decisions even themselves out somehow; the Russians were unhappy about their disallowed goal at Wembley which I believe should have stood.

England are not out of it yet …. Russia’s game in Israel is not a foregone conclusion, and it may still be down to the last game against Croatia at Wembley !

Even if England do qualify for Euro 2008 I don’t think McLaren is the right man to manage them ….. I hear rumours that Mourinho is being lined up ! Any truth to this ?

I still think he was behind the Russian defender, as did the ref and linesman, and what a brilliant goal.

Technically he fouled him outside the area, and the Russian player must be a super athlete to make his body bend over the line. :)
However I don't subscribe to shirt pulling ( there's too much of it going on at the moment ) and I think any player caught doing it should be punished. In this case Rooney was, so justice was done.

Yes there is a lot of talk about him at the moment. I personally think he is a great manager, and would like to see him as England chief. There is some written agreement with Chelsea stopping him becoming a Premiership manager with any other club, but that does not include International teams.

At the end of the day I think England had a really bad 5-6 minutes when Russia scored their two goals ....

By then they should have been 2-0 up ... Gerrard should have buried his chance from Barry's free kick.

Really though, England have not performed well in the early part of the qualifiers ... losing away to Croatia, but particularly 0-0 with Macedonia !

November 17 and then 21st should be interesting .... both for England and Polska with their qualifiers. England will be praying for Israel to England a favour, and hopefully Polska can do the business against Belgium leaving the last game against Serbia irrelevant !

England v Croatia will be interesting if qualification is in England's hands ! :o)
