Poland intends to spend $55 billion on new road construction in the next five years in preparation for the Euro 2012 soccer championships, Infrastructure Minister Cezary Grabarczyk said in an interview.

Full story...

Maybe its time for the Polish workers to come back home to Poland or else we will be invaded by China.

Comparing Polish road network with German is, softly speaking, out of place here. The economical gap between the two countries is still huge.

Firstly EU doens't give 97% funds for investment (I think it is 50% or 75%)

secondly here is the answer why Polish Zloty will be strong ... (we need to sell Euro and buy Zloty to use this money)

That is why Bartolome or other emigrants are not going to be rich people in Poland (with their pounds ;)) and after comming back are going to work in simmilar occupation than in UK. ;) (with Chinese coworkers)

Poland has already been given funding for such a grand project but it's been safely stored away we are told. A bit like the vast gold reserves under WTC 5.

I have mentioned, more than once, that German workers are already here.

This project doesn't stand a hope in Hell of being completed. Every time a road is planned Joe Public sees it as a chance to make money. The government will have to settle with farmers, alotment owners and home owners who will hold up the process. There is a myriad of other problems too.

Anyone who thinks it will reach completion in time is living in cloud cuckoo land.

is there a draft plan for the new roads - can anyone post a link?

german workers were brought in to build the balticka centrum in gdansk wrzeszcz... for a number of different reasons but largely because they were cheaper than the locals and didnt bugger off once they had been trained up in a new skill

I'm not an economist, but it's obvious to me these are directly connected. I see how developed roads in the UK are, and how far away Poland still is.

yeah, it obviously takes money to build roads but the EU gave money to poland a while back to get this job at least started. since then not a great deal has been done, whilst labour and material costs have risen sharply.

in fairness, the gdansk tzcew road has been completed pretty much on target, which is more than can be said for similar british projects. but to achieve the sort of targets outlined in the 2012 proposal calls for sleeves to be rolled up and knuckling down to some hard graft

Driving in and around the facinity of Wroclaw became an "add an hour" ordeal between 05/2007 - 02/2008 as a direct result of the new and improved infrastucture program. They seemed to be building all the major road restructure programmes at roughly the same time. Pleasure - pain theory i guess.

Has anybody else experienced a substantial decrease in the life of their right hand tyers? Im keeping trye pressure to factory approved levels but there just getting hammered due to the curvature of the bad roads.

One Nazi Autobahn doesn't change much. And it still needs repairs. One guy even sued the company which charged him for using the motorway (while he had to drive at snail's pace due to all that mess, and that's not the reason for building trunk roads, is it ?) and, guess what, he actually won.

and now you can go where sun doesn't shine.

Noimmigartion 3 months ago I called you our ally :) yes go to the job and kick some Poles back ;)

I think we are going to see more and more slavic brothers in working in Poland and sending money to Ukraine...

as to Chinese it seems that they are more accepted than other exotic races, all in all I hope Ukrainians will be enought.

your just avoiding the fact that i'm correct about the issue, its not just the roads that need to be improved for 2012 its many other things too. You would rather get personal than acutally put accross points of argument or discussion. Yes so i pur in a little bit of a provoking statement, however there is a point behind it. How much are Poland going to raise and fund for themselves, or how much is actually going to be paid by the EU?? i actually think its a reasonable question.

Lukasz:

now |I am happy because I know Islam is future of your country :) (or NAZIZM :P) Poles are not going to save you :)

The poles saving us, don't make me laugh, you couldn't fight your way out of a wet paper bag, lol :). I admire and thank the Polish for fighitng in our RAF in the 2nd world war, it was a good war effort :).

As for the nazi statement you made, i think your nation has a bigger problem with 'white supremacy' and 'neo nazi's' than we do :). I'm not saying there is not a problem in the UK but as far as the NAZI thing goes you beat us on that scale :)

Lukasz:

well actually i wouldn't miind a trip to norway, you know in some parts its dark there 6 months of the year :) Maybe you would like to go too :)

hay listen i don't want the Euro's to move, you and Ukraine have been given the tournament, yes i thought it was the wrong decision at the time, however the decisoin has been made, its important that both Poland and the UKraine get it right or it could be more negative for your nations than positive. Look at the mess that 2010 world cup preperations are in SA. You don't want that sort of thing surely??

They're just very small minority, and can just scream loud, but in fact do nothing.

i never said that i thought they were a majority, sorry if i didn't make that clear, however the problems can't be ignored just because they are a minority, as far as doing nothing, i'm not sure the people who are beaten and sometimes killed at football, or kicked out of pubs for being black would agree with you there :)

I mean they can do nothing (or very little). Our country has also anti-nazi, and anti-xenophobia organisations.

I think it all will change in time, for Poland has long been a mono-ethnic country, since more and more foreigners may come there (in this case Chinese workers) people will open their minds, at least in some minimal range. Besides such behaviour isn't just exclusive for Poles, mind you.

These '88' folks are starting to feature more and more on news items. They pose just as much of a risk to Euro 2012 as the roads. If the media latch onto these folks and spread the word then the damage will be difficult to clean up.

I mention this as a possibility, nothing more.

Yeah, media are partially to blame - they shouldn't show them so often and make the news of a day with a small group of idiots with shaved empty heads.
