A Pole looking for Job in Germany

Hello, I didn't really know where to put this post and I decided this was the best place. My girlfriend is Polish and I am an American living in Germany. She seems to think it would be hard for her to move to Germany to live with me and get a job. She says she needs a visa. She used to live in Germany but that was some time ago before Poland became part of the EU and I am sure things have probably changed. I was wondering how hard it is for a Pole to move to Germany and find employment, and what is necessary.

What do you mean by work permission? And how does she go about getting that?

I don't really now details. Generally Gerries keep their labor market closed for Poles until 2011, but there are some ways to work there legally - for exampel If a Gerri employer proove that he can't find any Gerries to do this job.

I see, that is kind of what she was saying. So why are they waiting so long to open up the borders to Poles? I know there are a lot of Russians in Germany and I know that a lot of the Germans don't like it because apparently the German government is doing a lot to help with the financial costs of buying houses and such.

They have some problems with unemployment, especially in ex-commie areas, where unemployment rate is often as high as 20% and these areas are close to Poland - with still so big difference in salaries Gerries without good eductaion would hardly have any chance to find a job closer than 100 km away from the Polish border.

I don't think that the government is helping them more than other people legally living in Germany, sounds rather like a myth, maybe expect some Russians playing Jews - many people from FSU found some half Jewish grandfather and came to Germany - Gerries give them some cash because of historical reasons.

Yeah I know about that. But the neighborhood that I live in is all new houses built within the last 5 years and there are so many Russians. The germans really say they get some type of financial assistance. I don't know, it could be just myth, I will have to look into it.
