Here we have an international dialing package and when you have let's say 500 sms package....all 500 are free to PL and .25 thereafter. You should have something similar in the UK.

Spiritus....quick Q off topic. What's with the PW in the other place. I've never said anything bad and they won't let me post in there now. They suck. Did you get one?

I've had a cell phone for 7 years. I used SMS service maybe once or twice (when I was setting my phone). But I found it was just a waste of time -- I can call within 5 seconds and writing a sentence may take up to 5 minutes.

When I was in Poland I noticed like everybody was playing with their phones and writing SMS. What's the deal? It was a little funny for me - wasting so much time. Poles instead of smsing each other should focus on their job (or on looking for a job).

That's my opinion.

in poland it is still cheaper to send a few txts than to call someone.i remember times when a minute from pay as you go phone cost 3.40zl!!!! and sending a txt 30gr.now the difference is not that big but still significant.here in the uk it is actually cheaper or the same price to call someone.i rarely text my friends. offer a call price similar to cost of sending a message and u will see, sending texts will stop.

Ok, but Ben's got a point -- what's the point of sending so many smses? When you send sms, you wait for the reciver to reply and so on and so on. So when it's something important you don't send sms I guess.

I often send sms to Poland. I like it because sometimes you just want to say something to that other person and he might be busy at the time, and might not answer anyway. But you just wanted to say a few words and the other person has the option to look at the sms whenever they feel like it. It's like leaving a message on an answering machine, but in written form. And it is cheaper than calling all the time.

if you want to speak about something without a hassle and constant thinking of the cost of the call it is easier to send a few messages.try to think the polish wayunfortunately the cost of most things like calls, new cars,hi-fi ect is MUCH more expensive compared to the uk.if we become a richer nation nobody will bother about checking prices-like u guys

a good example is the cost of petrol in poland-4zl.there are some people out there who earn about 5-6zl/hour.
in the uk people get paid about 5-6£ for similar jobs and the cost of fuell is around 90pence.
cann u see the difference?
some people add sunflower oil to diesel engines to save some money.
what would u do if you have to pay 4£/litre for petrol?or 80000£ for a new car?i bet u would do the same think as we do.

But it's more fun getting sms's than just calling. Life can get boring and depressing sometimes, and you have to make it fun.

Yes, but I can bed these companies didn't realize Poles would be using SMS on such a large scale.

These companies are present here for longer than a decade, and they still didn't notice that Poles are sending a lot of text messages? If they lose because of this service, and still they are continuing to advertise it, what does it make them look like, Ben?

When it's something important, you phone the other person. Simple as that.

Are you really not able to write in less than 5 minutes something that you can articulate in 5 seconds? What are you, Corky Thatcher or something? :hihi

Shelly,

I'm on an almost identical package but when I send SMS's to Poland I get charged for them.........and I send a lot ! Which network are you on and are you certain it's free to sms poland (providing you stay withing your txt bundle).

Fisz,

I didn't even bother applying for a PW as I know they wouldn't give me one. The place has sunk to new depths with the mods even starting a thread encouraging members to nominate which members should NOT be allowed to join........pathetic !

I also had an epiphany moment when I realised after some detective work that Hans and the moderators are affiliated in some way. It explains how he's been able to get away with writing racist and provocative remarks with total immunity whilst anyone who reacts to his views have their threads deleted by the mods.

BTW what was your name on there ?

But surely this isn't a Polish phenomenon.

Here in the UK SMS messaging is extremely popular amongst the young.
