Sorry folks but the Poles are a Nation of liars. When you have an appointment with them or any kind of transaction which involves a Pole when they realise they cannot keep their side of the bargain they lie their way out of it rather than tell the truth which is usually the best option.

Ive heard some good excuses in my time but these guys are something else and the lies are so good. Its great when you catch them out.

Of course we all lie from time to time but ive never heard so much BS from a nation since i lived here.

I'm not sure if lying is unique to Poles.
I know of entire countries Brits built on lies.

I think what you are experiancing is a cultural differance per se. Polish people don't lie more than other nationalities, just in a different way.

True... I deal with liars every day in the US.

You just have to be more selective with who you do business with.

Wish I could :)

I've been there plenty, but never lived. I'm sure you deal with swindlers-liars-movers-shakers.......

kombinowac ;) the way of life

I don't think you can call the entire country liars though. That would be offending everyone that I know living there and would be wrong.

OK - I will give you an example. After living in Canada I went back to work in Poland with another person - she was Canadian born, but Polish decent, so she new the language an all that. Culturally - she was Canadian an had lots of problems with the Polish way. I, had some, but not as many. Therefore, I still believe that it is a cultural differance.

common, that is not excusively Polish - have met tons of people in Canada, who have used excuses. You need to read people better.

Just wondering...
Bear with me here... many African tribes did not have a word for snow, because they never saw snow, so there was no noeed for the word. So... if lying is virtually unknown in English speaking countries then how come the English language has had a word for before the Polih nation was even noted as a nation?

If this is the way you feel about the country you are a guest of, I suggest you leave immediately. May I ask you what the f are you doing there? Go home, homeboy.

Hardly a guest if he lives here.

Not that there's ever been any obligation to see only the positive aspects of a place and ignor the negative ones.

Thank you for that. I am resident in Poland for various reasons which i would rather not be splashed all over this forum sufficed to say im stuck here for another couple of years. Its not that bad really there is just so many situations that infuriate me having lived in a decent 21st Century country. Its all a fall back from the communist era at the end of the day thats what i keep telling myself but when you deal with these lying cheating/bastads on a day to day basis it becomes a strain and i need to voice that strain sometimes and this is the solution. Also i would like others to be aware what they are getting themselves into if they are considering a move over here.

you are bit of a cookoo. The man is trying to do bussiness in Poland, so he is telling how it really is, from his point of view. Why leave?

What really annoys me is that millions of Poles have succesfully made the move to England, Scotland and Ireland over the past few years and its so simple for them. They have extremely informative web sites explaining all issues invloved in such a move.

For me in Poland the simplest issues such as buying a house organising car insurance even a visa has been blown into the biggest nightmare. Every time you go to an office thinking you have everything in order - there is a problem. Which turns out to actaully not be a problem as the person who told you it was a problem did not really know what he/she was talking about in the first place, and so it goes on... There is no such thing as downloadable forms from the internet you have to go to a fuking office and cue for hours with all the scum fighting for their place in the cue.

Polish people know what i am talking about although they will not admit it on this forum.

That really is the harsh reality of living here.
