Did you know, that if you are 16 or older and work legally in the UK then you are entitled by law to be paid a minimum amount per hour for any work that you do. This is called the National Minimum Wage (NMW). You get this for whatever work you do for any type of company, no matter how big or small it is.

From 1st October 2007 the NMW has increased from £5.35 to £5.52 an hour for adults aged 22 and over. For those aged 18-21 years the rate has increased from £4.45 to £4.60. The rate for 16-17 is now £3.40.

Your parents and forefathers didn't fight for mimum wages ya bawbag.

It was introduced by the Labour Government 2 elections ago.

However, your forefathers, like mine, did fight many years ago, and that was to retain democracy. Democracy allows Polish nationals to come here and work, and so do I.

labour pushed those minimum wage policies after workers and the union fought for them moron.

and it is correct that democracy would never have allowed hundreds of thousands of poles in the uk because the brits dont want them here

Ok then, let's have a debate on freedom/movement of labour in a modern free market global economy. Your comments please . . .

What controls/measures re: immigration would you seek to impose, and for how long? What would their consequences be to your domestic market re: international trade, current budget deficits, inflation, interest rates, un-employment figures, residential properties, skilled and unskilled labour markets etc?

Instead of posting dyslexic, small-minded, bigoted rants (and then running away), why not try and impress all of us by responding with some coherent arguments, my learned friend.

Wasn't Buckfast made by Benedictine Monks? U know, meditative and then thoughtful. After drinking a bottle of it, u could swear that they got the labels mixed up. I've had it once and it actually tasted OK, I kinda thought it'd be vile.

Listen bawbag, your opening statement about parents and forefathers fighting for something, whatever it might be, is, in the main a reference to World War II. When I challenged you, you said the the statement refers to workers and unions who fought for it. That makes a little bit more sense, but only a bit.

You have a friend in LennyD on this string but why don't both of you get realistic because making statements that the Brit's don't want Polish people here is untrue.

Take a step back and look at the bigger picture and consider why the UK was one of only 3 member states who did not block trade or people from any of the new 10 member states. You need to work that out for yourself though,. but some day I might come back and explain.

These figures are also misleading. Not only is the minimal wage a joke as it is still below the 'bread line', employers can still take money out of this for other services rendered such as accommodation. This is why Poles and other Eastern European workers are left on farm living in caravans and earn almost nothing at all because the employer can take money for these additional items out of their wages. In essence, the workers are just that, workers, little more than slaves. As far as I am concerned, this so called minimal wage is little more than an election stunt. New Labour wants to be seen as a party for the people not what it really is, an extension of the establishment and so similar to old Conservative that you could be looking in to a mirror.

Lets not forget the polish fought for us in spitfires in the Battle of BRITAIN!!!

Or does that not count for something?

Ther is absolutly no reason why everyone in this country and all countries in the civilised world should not be paid a decent wage for a decent days work and all be treated EQUALLY!!

I would be grateful if you have a reply to this keep it on the open forum, I do not want anymore of your filth in my private message box thank you.

Regards.

Woopy doo, we gave them the tools and opportunity to fight for their dead loved ones. A lot of different nationalities fought against Hitler and did we hand out free passes to them as well?

Twas nice of you. Nothing's changes as they are still getting opportunities in the UK. You folks are great!! I really hope with the education and work experience they're getting will help re-build Poland.

lynda the WHOLE and ONLY reason we entered poland was to protect the polish from the nazis, the polish did NOT fight for britain or anyone else but themselves. Without britain the polish wouldnt even be speaking german, they would be dead.

jesus ONE squadron of polish pilots and they think they contributed anything significant in ww2

I think the problem is that many Poles haven't registered yet and are unaware of their entitlements. We hear many stories about undercutting and cheap labour, it wouldn't surprise me if many Poles were working for under 5 quid. The average wage for a Pole is 7.30 pounds. Given that quite a few work as doctors and dentists, this is a little low. There are many menial jobs in Britain, the Job Centre is just a cesspit of undesirables but many Poles are willing to work with such corrupt employers. What I am surprised about is the growing number of construction workers. In Poland, this is one of the better paid trades. In the UK, I wouldn't describe it as well paid although there are some good projects out there.

No, I think in the long run, the end result would have been very different. Hitler's only aim was to move eastwards. He hated Bolshevism and the Jew. Bolshevism he saw as a Jewish religion. He wanted for Germany Russia just like Britain had India. He saw the roles of both suprressed people as similar in this regard. It was Britain that declared war on Hitler because he would not leave Polish soil. Had we done nothing he would not have moved through France, Belgium or Holland at all. He would have attacked The Soviet Union at least two years earlier and would probably have won. The future of Europe must have been changed quite considerably in the long run.

As far as I am aware, it was Germany's ability to utilize the Czech armaments factories from where they got their ability to fight a long and sustained war.

Pleae guys, do you actually know your history, or isit a case you would rather reinvent it to suit yourselves????????????????

The Poles and yes the czech'sand others helped us in the war AFTER they had lost everything to Germany, but hey what do I know??????????

My point is we should be living a world where all are equal regardless of country of origin, and I believe that is a far more corageuos challange to strive towards than trying to put each other down because of our colour or natioanality, war is something that simply does not belong in modern day culture, as descrimination and bigotry, none belong.

We should be accepting the society we live in today and helping each other to overcome the challanges it brings. TOGETHER AS HUMAN BEINGS
