Polish attitudes towards drinking alcohol

Very true. It's also true that some families will give their 10 or 11 year old child a glass of wine with a meal. Is there a problem with that? I don't think so.

Neither do I. I usually have a beer with my dad after dinner on most days, unless I've got a game. Just one beer, or a mix drink.

I have to disagree with the parents drinking with the children thing. I don't think drinking should be taken so lightly. Getting ur kid used to having alcohol every day is a terrible idea! Even if its in small amounts its still a bad idea. If they have the genetic predisposition to addiction ur kind of jumpstarting them on the path to alcoholism.

The general idea is that if the child is used to alcohol and knows what it takes like and how it should be drunk then they won't be so much in a hurry to hurl it down their necks ages 13, 14 etc.



Then it'll happen anyway whether or not they'd had a glass of wine at aged 10.

Hell no he has been feeding the melon with vodka and has a straw fixed in place ;-)

You are such a drip, its acceptable in a lot of cultures to allow a child a small (very small) amount of wine with dinner, I think you will find that most kids who are allowed this are not found sprawlled out in the street pissed! I've never seen Spanish or Italian youngers with drink problems.....

The US highscool age drinking problem is far worse than any other country from what I am seeing It is the abuse and drunkedness that is the problem here. And some say this problem would not be so bad if children started drinking at a young age.

Just as bad in the UK, so much so they are thinking of upping the price of alcohol (its extremely cheap in super markets) - it would seem that kids have nothing better to do than get drunk, I just dont really see this kind of thing when Im abroad, certainly not when I'm in Spain visiting a friends apartment...

True also when you see groups of Spanish or Italian teenagers here in UK on holiday, they aren't looking for the nearest place that'll sell them booze, generally I find they're looking for the local landmarks.
