Polish community in Sydney, Australia

I am planning a trip to Poland (and Russia) sometime in 2008 and am interested in meeting, or finding out more, about Poland from Polish people. I live in Sydney and met some Polish guys last year but other than that I have no real knowledge of Polish people in Sydney. If anyone knows or has any information about a Polish community in Sydney or any Polish events that might be held throughout the year - that would be great. Planning a trip is fun, researching about a place is also really interesting, but getting information first hand would be even better! Cheers!

I live in sydney aswell and also have trouble finding polish people.But i do know of a polish club in ashfield i do not know the full address but will find out if intrested havnt been myself but heard great things..

Do you have cell phones in Australia? I have heard that it is amost like in China. I met some ausies in US of A.

I don't think furry even knows. The only thing I have to say about Aus is...its freakin aussome!!I visited the Perth area and had a fantastic time. Friendly bunch and fun to party with. I wish our homeless played didgeridoo's :)

It's just soooo far away :) I'd love to go back for a vacation.

Ill second that great place to be in summer assume beaches great people to be aroundthe only thing i miss is the snow in winter aint the same without snow at christmas...

No polish people there ok not many

We definitely have mobile phones - too many it seems sometimes. And I was in China a couple of years ago - and every man, woman and child has one over there - so I guess we are kind of like them!

I would actually really enjoy a winter Christmas one year but have to say I am definitely a beach/summer girl and love the fact that it's so hot/warm all year round in Sydney.

So, there's a club in Ashfield that could be kinda cool. Pawel, I don't suppose you know of any types of events or things that they might put on?!

The club in Ashfield would be much better because I am in the eastern suburbs - Blacktown is a very long way away for me.

Can keep you posted if/when I find out about anything 'Polish' that might be coming up if you like....

No sorry hon - I am 29 yrs old - just a TOUCH too old for what you are after! I have no doubt though that there are pretty 18 yr old Polish girls in Sydney - just a matter of finding them! Will give this Polish club a call at some stage this week and find out what's going on.

Just quickly as well - I know that Warsaw is obviously one place to visit in Poland - but any advice as to other good places? Where do you plan on going?

if you want to come south there is a polish dziupla in melbourne once a month at the end of each month.

I am yet to find a Polish restaurant in Sydney though - would like to try some Polish food. Does anyone have any recommendations?!

being from melbourne i am not sure what is available up in sydney but the polish clubs (like community centre's) usually have a restaurant area.

there is a restaurant in melbourne that is called "borsch, vodka and tears" if you are ever down this way.

there is also a polish deli at the vic market.

hey king, there are a few polish deli's around Melbourne, not just the one at the market, there is also a restaurant somewhere near Upway i think.

Is there a big Polish community in Melbourne? I am clearly going to have to do some more research into the Sydney scene. I know that there is a decent sized Russian community here ... somewhat notorious even... but the Polish aren't quite so obvious.
