Its seems that polish people have assimilated into the aussie way of life and get involved in aussie rules football and cricket, lol, seriously though, there is a polish club in Sunshine (west of melbourne) and Rowville (east of melbourne) both offer hearty polish meals and polish beer. (polish artist sometimes perform at these venues) otherwise you have to go to Dan Murphy's Liquor Store where they have a large variety of polish vodka's and beer, go home put on some polish music and enjoy.

Yes, Sayno, i am from melbourne.

My parents think the best polish food is athe polish club in albion. If you want something more commercial then try borsch, vodka, tears. They have a website, just google the name. There is also a place called chesters out in the east that my brother happened upon.

there is also a polish dance every month and if you can read polish it is at:

I know of 2 sites to go to for that sort of info:
dziuplamelbourne.com
melbourne.pl

The Dziupla organisation does discos in North Melbourne every 2 months and a Ball in November at Albion. The next disco is on the 30th of June. They are usually great fun - its 99% english music.

There is also a music night happening at 'Renix' pizzeria in St Kilda on Acland St on the 3rd of June at 7pm

The Melbourne.pl people do a BBQ where you can meet up with other poles (aged 20-40s mostly)

Yes! but not many. Around Melbourne there a few specialty delicatessens which sell cold meats/sausages etc as well as lollies, biscuits and other stuff in packets and jars... you know, like sauces, jelly, pickles etc.. It's funny, you go in there and its like 'little poland' and everyone knows eachother :)

The Preston market has a few good shops, The Glenroy shop is the main manufacturer, and that stuff goes to the Victoria and Preston market.

The best way is making your own sausages...

Hi Chris, come to melbourne on the 18th for the polish festival at federation square - heaps of people and lots of beer and entertainment. The following saturday the 17th there is a huge ball at the polsih club at albion which is run by dziupla - go to their website to see what other events are coming up. Let us know if you come and what you think!

Hello Syrena,
Even thought my first language is Polish, I never learned to read/write Polish, they did have an English section which did give me some info. The Polish festival looks fun, I have really been missing Polish food. I am presently living/working in Mt. Gambier, SA. I have to come to Melbourne on Nov30-Dec 2 for a business meeting is there any weekly events. I would try to make it this week-end but I have to stay in Mt. Gambier due to some prior committments. I would appreicate some feed-back.

cheers Chris

Dear Chris, it is a shame you'll miss the festival...i'll let you know how it went. on the dziupla site in case you couldnt read it on December 1st there is a charity ball to raise funds for a sick child in poland. It might be a good chance to meet some polish folk... its in gardenvale, a suburb very close to the city - between st kilda and brighton. Here are the details....

BAL NAD BALE – PYSZNA ZABAWA!
Bal Charytatywny na rzecz Kacperka Cabana

1-go Grudnia 2007r, 8pm
Masonic Hall, 237 Nepean Hwy, Gardenvale

$45 - W cenie biletu pyszna kolacja (BYO napoje)

BAWMY SIÊ DLA KACPERKA! (BILETY: 9702 5000)

Nautika - I've been going to those Dziupla functions for many years and they are great fun if you like dancing (and a bit of a drink too). I am def going to the Ball at Albion on the 28th. Albion is near Sunshine on the ring road - really easy to get to. If you want to go and would like a table to sit at, let me know cos i have a few spots left. To read more about it go www.dziuplamelbourne.com go to gadu gadu (forum) and you'll find info under Imprezy - english and polish.

So KS i take it you're not going? Piker!! Why don't you just drive or get ur sheila to drive?
