Polish dentists - good and cheap?

Hi,

I'm moving to Poland from the Uk in a couple of months. I've heard dentists are both good and fairly cheap in Poland - does anyone recommend getting dentist work done in the Uk prior to coming for any good reason - I'm thinking of getting my teeth whitened (not to look like a Californian, because they are a bit discolored after 30 years of chewing).

Thanks

Tim

I started a thread about this the other day - I am based in the UK but will be getting some veneers next time I am in Poland.

I've been in contact with statmedica.com/tourism.php?art=0

There's a lady there called Alison who has been really helpful in recommending where to go.

Yes definitely, get your teeth done in Poland it will save you money! Many private dentists here have all sorts of certificates and the newest technology so dont worry. I wouldnt recommend going to a Polish NHS dentist, because even though that is for free - queues are long, and the standard quite poor... I think you need to obtain this white little book (whats was it called, a książeczka zdrowia or something) to get on the Polish NHS too... Anyway, most definitely go private!

Woops, that's bad.

When I was out there I had to change my dentist when she married a friend of mine and went to live over here. The replacement was a right dragon...

I went to a dentist in Czestochowa and he was dreadful. The filling just fell out so I went back and had it done again. The same thing happened a few hours later again so I simply waited until I got home to England and had it done properly by a South African dentist and then it was perfect. Mind you, this was a long time ago and I hope that this particular dentist is no longer practicing. things are cheap in Poland but that does not mean that the quality is always going to be the same.

Looking at LondonChick's thread too, I'll definitely wait until Poland and chew to my heart's content in the meantime. Thanks all.

im living in krakow, go to my dentists regularly, its pretty cheap, most dentists here will give you free consoltation before doing any treatment. then you can talk it through with them and decide what you want done first.

i highly recommend the private health care system here. ive had no hassle what so ever:D

Polish dentists and doctors can be much cheaper than in the West, but my God what rubbish they can dish out too. I had an operation in a private clinic once in Poland and I will never forget the experience! Nigdy znowu w życiu!

that is exactly right, paying for the best private dental care in Poland in many cases will cost you less than going to a shi*ty NHS dentist who hates his job, plus you gotta queue for like 3 months as well. i have bad experience with NHS dentists in UK, if i had to get my teeth done id book the next flight to Poland!! ;)

It was in a dreadful place. I remember driving there in my car. It was a private clinic in Katowicach where incidentally, there were no road signs. A shame indeed that I managed to find my way to his clinic! During the operation, the nurse said to the doctor performing the operation 'do you not think that you have forgotten to give the patient a sedative against the pain as he is eating the pillow to stop the pain!!' An experience never to be forgotten or missed I suppose but I hope and pray that he is no longer practicing or alive for that matter! In fact, on the phone he even offered to repeat the experience for free as he was so sad that I was so dissatisfied, NEVER, NIGDY, NIKOGDA!!

i think you munch the pillow alot

plus, before the op, they would have been able to tell if the sedative worked
