What do Polish friends think of Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton?

I hope you're right, Dice, but history is not on your side on this one. America is horribly racist and sexist. I like Obama but I'm not sure the nation is ready for a Black president. I pray that I'm wrong.

I'm with you Julie, but I'm afraid there's been too much ugliness between the two of them. Clinton with here disgusting assertions of Obama being a Muslim, Obama firing back. All this infighting is just weakening the Democrats cause, so much that a "dream ticket" of Obama/Clinton or vice versa seems like a pipe dream. The Dems need to get together, pick a candidate and move on to taking on McCain. If people don't think McCain has a chance, they are dreaming. Republicans ALWAYS campaign better than Dems.

I don't know if we should be "thankful" for the murder and forceful relocation of millions of people.

I am not interested in American politics.

But I heard both and made my opinion on how they spoke. It is purely personal opinion, based on my emotional perception of them.

Obama sounds like a normal man, neither good nor bad. He is OK.

Hilary made a much worse impression on me. She sounds like a very overbearing high nose lady. Entitled, so called. She speaks slowly, tends to prolong words in a very silly bombastic manner. I dislike such speech.

If I were American, asked to vote, with my lack of interest in politics, I would choose Obama.

I noticed that too. She makes smirking faces during debates. Seems she has no control of her body language.

As an American, I can assure you that neither Obama, Clinton, or McCain care in the least about Poland. They only care to the extent that Poland allows the USA to build anti-Russian, "missile-defense" shields on Polish territory.

In exchange for using Poland as a market for American junk and NATO installations, Poland will receive little or nothing in return, although the major politicians and executives will probably receive large bribes. For them it will be worthwhile.

Meanwhile, the Polish people will become the new front-line target in any future war or conflict between the USA and Russia (if they accept the new American missile installations).

Poland will be wise to play the USA and Russia off each other, and navigate a clever path between the two giants. Neither empire has Poland's interests at heart, they are simply competing over it as strategic territory.

That is going to change. Current Polish government is intent on pulling a lot of money out of American pockets for the modernisation of the Polish army. They mention the sum of 20 billion dollars over the period of the next dozen years, it includes the newest systems of anti-aircraft defence. The recent visit of Polish Prime Minister to the USA showed that Americans seem to be in a hurry with the shield, while Poles prefer to remain cautious on the matter .....

My grandfather was born in Poland in the 19th century. He came to the USA in 1898 as a small boy.

He spent a majority of his working life dealing with bias and discrimination. Does that sound familiar?

His name sounded odd and uncomfortable to many of the people from his county and town. Does that sound familiar?

He was a family man that believed in GOD and CHRIST as his SAVIOUR! He was deeply religious. Does that sound familiar?

He was a man of unquestionable morals and people from his community looked upon him as a moral leader. He was a humble man that refused to "slap the cheek of the other man". Does that sound familiar?

He was a person that devoted himself to community service and bettering his community. Does that sound familiar?

He was a man that was truly patriotic and committed to giving back to his country. Does that sound familiar?

My grandfather had a sense of personal balance, of calm and revered judgement, and people always looked up to him and supported his public endeavors. Does that sound familiar?

My grandfather was considered an immigrant, even though he worked in the steel mills for more than 60 YEARS! and he was a devoted and active family and church leader! Does that sound familiar?

It certainly doesn't sound like John McCain or Hilary Clinton !!

Which candidate understands our experiences? Which Democratic candidate believes in service, honesty and family?

Barack Obama is our candidate! President Barack Obama will establish more firm and lasting relationships with Poland. President Barack Obama will reward Poland for their help in the war on terror. I also support Obama. But I have a feeling if he becomes the US president, he will get killed. Just like Kennedy was killed.

For Hilary Clinton, as she expressively said, human rights are LESS IMPORTANT than the national security (or constant "war on terror" to terrorize its own citizen, as it currently goes with what Bush administration is doing).

That disqualifies her completely not only as a president, but also as a human being.
