Polish girl married a British guy - when will she become British citizen?

Hey guys, does anyone know how long does it take for a Polish girl who has married a British guy to become British citizen?

I dont actually see the point of her wanting to become a British citizen..Poland are in the EU...have the same rights here as English do, only difference is the workers registration...

Wouldnt you be better having a look on a site that can actually give you the info!

Well, the point is that they want to go to Australia and becoming a UK citizen will make it much easier but thanks for the reply.

This is really very much what I expected all along from the start. These Poles are very clever and manipulative and know how 'to start the ball rolling' as it were. Okay, first of all once she has lived in the UK for 1 year she can get British residency, then five years after that she can apply for citizenship. I know this because i am married to a Scottish woman (I'm Polish) and this is what I have been told by the home office. I can apply for citizenship, if I want, in 2 years time going by this.

I believe it's 3yrs ... you have to be married and resident in Uk for the 3yrs before you can apply for citizenship. Best to check up with the Home Office to be entirely sure.

My uncle had a thriving business making jeans (very large factory employed 30 girls) up to the early 80's he paid his staff well, the conditions where good etc....only his business went into liquidation because he couldnt stay in competition with the pakis that had sprung up all over the place with their dirty sweat shops, under-cutting him...so dont ******* try and tell me about how wonderful pakistani's and indians are....How many pakistani's do you see employing english people in their shops?????

I've worked with the Irish, Scottish and British construction workers for almost 3 years and I can assure you they have a good work ethic.



I'm terribly sorry, but the press feeds you nothing but rubbish when it comes to certain subjects. Ofcourse those people are going to report that Polish workers are better, because those are the same people who profit from it aswell for each time they're placing adverts for those very same companies!

Look, I've worked with many Polish people, but most of them really do not work harder than the English or Dutch construction workers.. Also, I've noticed that in Poland, people from the Ukraine, Russia and even from Asia are actually into construction work there, because the Polish refuse to work in their own country, and this is what I hear from a lot of Polish girls too. I've heard it more than once that a lot of Polish boys don't really want to work in their own country, where going abroad for a few weeks is more of a fun trip to them.

I'm not generalizing anyone, I think you know me by now. A good worker is a good worker, but it's simply not true that we are too lazy..

What is more likely to be true is this; There is a minority of bussiness people who want to profit from cheap labour, but in doing so, they're wrecking their own society economically. It's easy to say ''The work is out there.'' But what if those agencies who only want to hire Polish men and women tell those British men and women systematically that they currently have no job for them?

It happens, and everybody knows it happens. I'm not a Poland basher, not at all, but I don't exaggarate about people.. Also, Holland is one of the biggest investors in Poland, and we already pay the highest taxes of Europe, (When it comes down to the individual.) which also benefit Poland.

I have no problems with that, and I'm confident Poland will be a good and healthy country within just a few years from now on, but I do have problems with it when people tell their own people there is no work while everybody knows that there is.

Please note that I am not blaming the Polish for it. I would work abroad if I couldn't manage it back home, so I perfectly understand. But you can't blame us or the British for wanting a job in our own country..

And that's something you don't even have to understand, because it's common sense really..
