I think however that Polish qualifications are valued much less than British ones, that's why I still can't get any good job here, only cleaning, factories and general work for somebody with basic education

not really I think that lots polish people lack C O N F I D E N C E .
When I moved here I worked for 7 months at tesco and later found job in the Bank. I have the same salary like English people, I do internal career progression..... I wouldn't eveln say I am very ambitious.
One of my friend works a manager in food factory and does extra transaltion for Police and hospitals, another work as manager in the Bank.
I didn notice discrimination towards polish people it is us not confident enough...

You see....I guess you are clever and educated but...cofidence again.

Do you know what may husbands says..." We British are quite confident I don't even know why as some are quite stupid but ...

If you behave that way people see you that way.
I don't mean overconfident and cocky but just on normal confidence level.

Iwona, my friend who has been teaching me Polish was working in a bar waiting on, well I spoke to a friend of mine who works for a large insurance company / bank and now my Polish friend has a job there....My friend is very well educated and I thought it was a shame she was wasted doing what she was doing, anyway, now she doesnt have to work evenings and earns a little bit more money and like I said to her it will look good on her c.v. when she goes back to Poland next September for University....Also she'll probably get a student contract next summer when she comes back....I think if someone gives you a bit of a guiding hand and shows you its possible then your confidence is boosted - at the end of the day my mate just got her the interview she did the rest...

Again, back to the main topic everyone...

The reason why Polish women outnumber Polish men in terms of forming relationships with natives from the UK is generally because of the poor English that many of our country men display. A Pole with a proper English shouldn't have any problems with dating an English girl. But lets face it, many Poles can speak English only on a basic level, which is not enough to start a decent conversation with a woman. Polish girls don't have this problem, because in both of our societies men are the ones expected to trigger a flirt.

As for you Bartolome, maybe you are just looking in the wrong places?

I think also a lot of guys come over with their g/f's - maybe more single girls come over from Poland??? Maybe Polish boys dont like english girls....who knows....I dont really see any out in the bars that I go to...not that Im looking of course!

Polish gals sit around at their homes, unless they're interested in fishing some Briton, maybe they're too scared to go out, this is beyond me And Polish lads like very often to go out, believe me But perhaps they're too scared or/and shy to kick off a conversation with a British girl (e.g. me )
Tese are my teories about Polish singles in the UK If somebody thinks different, I'm not going to argue

I suppose you are right, English women are quite confident some of them loud. Polish men can feel little intimidated?

That is true but as you are English and know "local reality" your encouragement was great.

Problem is that some polish live together , work together in some factories and they don't know many English peeople that is why they are frightened to look for better job. Some do but the only the bravest ones.

Well, intimidated ? Perhaps, but I think many Polish guys are just afraid to talk to them just because they're BRITISH women.

No, they are somehow alien to Polish men. Maybe it's a matter of time until Polish guys would get used to this situation. Besides you're a Pole, and you're asking such questions as if you were a British

I am but I am woman and I work in place with very few emigrants ( quite unusal in UK and my husband is English so I don't really know lots polish people in UK. My few friends , girls, polish seem to get on very well with English men.

I suppose I would prefer to work with more Polish, Czech, Slowakian, Italian....it would be more interesting.

That's a point, it's much easier for Polish girls here, for they're quite popular amongst Britons, but Polish men aren't that popular, besides I think that women look at men in an entirely different way than men perceive women. Correct me please if I'm wrong

i find polish men to be popular its just like Shelley said before they arent really in the bars and they tend to socialise within their own groups...do polish men like British women then? Why do they find us intimidating?

They do.

But i think that Polish men could be popular among english women.
They are different. Everything what is different different is always attractive.
You have one asset which English men lack- romatism, soul, .....it is difficult to describe. We people from continent are little different.

The problem is that when i look on the streets polish men don't seem to be looking much after themselves. ( in difference to polish girls looking usually smart)...their clothes, shoes, haircut...little things but make image.

American. You're the stupid one. American girls are more out to get your money. Come out of your friggin cave man. If money is involved they may offer you money for marriage. It's the Russian women who will want you to fly them to America to take care of them. I see you spend a lot of time believing other people. Or maybe you just met the wrong one. There are bloodsuckers everywhere, but there are more in the US than anywhere else.

your fellow American
