yes do they employ english in the factory in poland what do u think???

Just face it - cost of production are lower in Poland. And they don't employ Brits in Poland, because they don't move there.

when did i say it wasnt?? i bet its cheaper in china.....

so my point is why not close the factory here if its that much cheaper to produce things???

why take jobs off able bodied young hard working lads here and give them to middle aged polish people......

why dont we have polish dentists, nurses and doctors what we need?

polish dentists

The dentists at the practice I go to are Polish, except for my dentist, who is Serbian, thankfully he isn't Crow, or I would have false west teeth by now

simple question would be, was the uk worse of 6 years ago?

im not against the polish or anyone in the world coming to the uk, let them come. but dont patronise the native people by saying if it wasnt for immigrants in the past 5-6 years we wouldnt have better lives. but with everything, its a 2 headed coin, we can employ cheaper labour( that doesnt mean exploit) but the 16-21 year olds natives will find it alot more difficult for work.

Yeah, it is. That's why most of e.g. your clothes have tags saying 'Made in China/Bangladesh/Morocco (or other Asian/African country)'. I wonder how many of them have 'Made in UK' tag.

And how are they getting these jobs ? Hello ! Anybody home ? British employers employ them. They even come to Poland and look for workers here. What the hell do you think that this is some conspiracy ? They take Poles because English are not willing or are not skilled enough to do them.

no i dont think its some conspiracy what the hell are you on about?

Yes i know how they get them by being employed by employers but i wanna know why and not every polish person working in the uk knew the job b4 they went into

in the place where my bf works you have to be trained to use the machine hes on and everyother machine in the place incase someone is off......so if they arent skilled in that what then?

I have never read his stuff due to short attention span and the amount of reading I have to do on my own every day - I agree though. It am sure the visit would be unforgetable though;)

so why sit there aruging the toss with me about this topic if when asked a question you really cant answer.
This is what makes me mad and stops me from posting in these forums because i didnt come here for an arugment, but to find out about polish people and i asked my bf not to post what he wanted on here, but bartolome said we should stand by our opinions which is what we are doing but instead i get made to look like a T.W.A.T because i ask a question that someone cant answer?

Low skilled doesn't mean an idiot, and I apologise if I've given you the impression that I thought that

You didn't..... I was being a tad touchy, as some think that low skilled means *************. A lass I work alongside at the Pizza place has a Phd... her husband leaving her, for someone younger, left her no choice but to go on the agency as she'd sacked her career off to bring up the family and had been out of her field for far too long to make it back in easily, even with a Phd. Like many other British workers, she'd rather work at anything than ponce off the State.

Thanks for your reply there Liza.. a lot to think about. It was nice to see a sensible reply, and... yeah... you know what, I might just look into that TEFL thing, the money is pretty decent around here for that... and if I could have chosen any occupation, I'd have loved to have been a teacher. I like meeting foreigners in the UK and teaching them my language or showing that being British isn't about Xenophobia, but about being open and welcoming. So I guess that kind of marries up two things... don't know why i hadn't thought of it before to be honest... *shock*

I was laid off from a pretty regular agency placement about 4 weeks ago. On the same day a Polish couple got laid off. All of us agency workers. It was hard for them, as they had lost both incomes in one swoop.

For me, yeah, it annoyed me. But I went back to the agency and picked up some other factory work. What REALLY annoyed me, was the English guy who laid me off, after training me up on a very specialised piece of machinery (Engraving signs for high-end electronic components) then employed his 18 year old son to get trained up on what I was doing. He's already working in the factory and is known as an idle bastard... the factory is short of orders. His Dad was looking out for his sons prospects by giving him an opportunity to add an invaluable skill to his bow... and less likely to be laid off if another round of cuts come.

But...to return to your point... the English are happy firing the English.. sod that I have a mortgage and everything, and had never missed a days work (unlike Boy-Wonder) ... so it cuts both ways...

Nice to see you here btw anuska.... I also joined here to learn more about Polish people. Don't take all points made above as being indicative of all Polish..... ;)

This reminds me of a time, twenty years ago, when I sacked the son of one of the directors. I was doing what I was paid to do and management had to back me up.

Oh, how I loved the job of Gaffer.

Its surprising the sheer number of people on these boards who cant grasp this basic point. Its much easier to just to pick sides and resort to stereotypes.
