There have been some fascinating insights expressed in this thread, I’d like to contribute my 2 cents (euros?).
Having dated women from many different cultural and racial backgrounds, I think there is a lot to be said about status. Our partner, to some degree affords us with status, whether you are aware of this consciously or not. I just completed my masters in IR at the LSE, run my own educational charity and have a flat in central London, I still find it interesting that the white female underclass actually look down on me wherever I go. Before I’m accused of sour-grapes, I’m not talking about dating-scenarios, I mean just ordinary conversational exchanges in which they are frequently shocked that I speak better English than them, don’t eat dog, and eat food with a knife and fork. I attribute this, somewhat cynically I admit (yet based on observation) to the fact that the white underclass in the UK, in spite of their ignorance, look down on people of colour no matter what their status or achievements. You could be a top international human rights lawyer, to many of them your just a wog. Please note the difference between the underclass and the honest working classes of Britain.
Why do Polish women or white women in general on council estates chose black partners? A lot of it has to do with having something exotic and different yes, but status wise, it’s a step up for a black guy on an estate to get a white girlfriend (no matter how ragged). For the woman, it shows her ability to exercise choice (or perhaps lack of choice given the demographics on estates?). In western society, it is generally not a step up in status for a white guy to take a non-white girlfriend. It suggests that he can’t find one from his own kind. I have often noticed in London, that some quite good looking athletic black guys are with in my view, rather plain looking white women. My point is status has a lot to do with balancing our choice of partner. Plenty successful black or non-white guys have stunning white girlfriends, many rich white guys will marry foreign models, actresses or just good looking foreign women. They are exercising greater choice based either on their status.
By now, quite a few of you should be outraged and indignant at what I’ve suggested, and the points I’ve made about status is by no means axiomatic, there are always other factors involved. Yet I can confidently say that around the world, status is afforded according to the following criteria: race, wealth, nationality, physical appearance. Generally speaking, anywhere in the world, a white guy has the highest status and is rightly or wrongly treated as such. This does NOT mean that white men do not get rough treatment now and then, but far less than non-whites. I lived in Japan (Kyoto) for 3 months, and I can confidently say that the “Gaijin” (white westerners) have markedly higher status than us “Gaikokujin” (non white foreigners). Moving onto the next criteria, if your rich (and demonstrably so) you obviously will attract attention from women, this is true all over the world. If you are not white, but are a national of a prosperous western nation, then you will have more status outside your nation in the eyes of women from non-western nations. Therefore an unemployed poorly educated white woman in the UK might not give you the time of day, compared to women outside the UK who might find you exotic, provided they are aware of your nationality, and that you were not born in the bush somewhere in Africa/Asia.
btw Matek1: inter-racial dating is here to stay; one day we will all look Brazilian. Broad hipped curly haired women and tanned muscular guys, anybody object??
