I've been using English since ... hmm... 1999 ?
*Better to say I have been speaking or talking in English .......

I've never written English in an email. Only while (or whilst) playing multiplayer games and that is why the English grammar used wasn't so perfect. 99% of the players weren't English they were just trying to communicate ;)

My comments on your English as written.

I've been speaking/writing/reading English since ........ 1999
I've never written an English email. Only while playing multiplayer games and that is why my English grammer is not so perfect. 99% of the players did not speak English when they were trying to communicate.

Regards,

Kuba

One problem with this sentence is that you have changed the meaning of the original sentence.

The first sentence had the meaning that 99% of the players werent English.
Now in your sentence you have said that 99% of the players didnt speak English, however the original sentence did point out that people were trying to communicate in English.

is it grammatically correct? It looks like mix of Present Perfect and Past Simple... and let's take a look at google results:

Personalized Results 1 - 100 of about 641 for "I have never wrote".
Personalized Results 1 - 100 of about 174,000 for "I have never written". (0.40 seconds)

so it seems that 2nd sentence is more popular.

Actually, that sounds worse, ukinpoland, and I 'say' this as a native (American) speaker so trust me!
