Polish marriage & wills

I recently got married to a polish lady (i am british). She says if she dies, then her estate will go to her mother. I thought this a bit unfair, as in the UK the estate passes to the spouse. If a will hasnt been made, will it pass to her mother or to me?

Polish law is odd like this. Estates can be divided among other direct relatives if they object to the will. When my grandfather died, my mum and all my cousins (children of my deceased uncle) had to sign a statement that they weren't going to challenge his will and only then could my grandmother transfer his share of their house into her name. Consult a Polish lawyer as it might not be automatic like in the UK!
