Polish Men and Fashion

I know this is quite a frivolous topic, but, I have noticed that Polish men are little lacking (to say the least) in dress sense / style! Whilst in Krakow I noticed that the men didn't really have any sense of fashion. They either just wore run o the mill jeans and a plain t-shirt or some really atrocious combat pants with the most horrific camouflage patten on them. The hair styles were uniformed - crew cut and that was it...I'm not saying they should have some of the ridiculous hair cuts they have in England, but a bit of variation would be nice. There also seems to be a lack of menswear shops too, whilst women’s shops were in abundance, which brings me on to the fact that Polish women put time and effort into looking good so why don’t the men???? I also noticed that the Polish pull their socks up a little bit too high when wearing shorts...jeez don’t you have trainer socks half of them looked like their mothers had dressed them! Of an evening nobody seemed to make an effort even in the really nice bars and clubs. I think Polish men really need to up their game where fashion is concerned....

I have to disagree. I`m dressing myself very fashionable.. but if you want to find men who, like in some W. European countries use makeup and lipstick, you`re on the wrong address.

I also don`t have a very short haircut.

and in my opinion that's a very important point, so you agree, just because you think you look fashionable - it's possible that others find you quite unfashionable

Not at all - my hair and eye color`s changing dependant on the light and the sun. The first can be anything from almost black to light brown, and the second can be gray, blue, green, depends how you see it.

Everything depends on something.

You got a point there, but I think that the situation is improving. You can see it perfectly observing the younger generation.

Of an evening nobody seemed to make an effort even in the really nice bars and clubs.

That's strange. I don't think that it's that dramatically where I live.

Krakow is a city where I would say a large proportion of the population are young and I saw nothing but a sea of jeans / t-shirts and bad combats and shorts with socks far to high up their legs.

i live in a city and when I go out of a weekend or for that matter through the week, if I go to a smart bar - I expect to see guys dressing in something more than a t-shirt and jeans.

Oh i was fortunate not to see any in sandles with socks on, I just took it for granted that they were Germans!

I work in fashion so for me it was such a shock to see that the guys were dressed so badly - hopefully it wont take too long before they're up to speed...Ladies you need to give a bit of guidance in some cases - it was such a shame seeing such cute boys dressed in such a poor manner (poor = just dressed really boring)

Since they don't have that many men's shops, that's all they can find.

I mean only too bad they have any men's shops at all! I wouldn't mind seeing them walking around in their birthday suits.

I must disagree about lack of men's clothing supply. I live in Wroclaw and I've seen a number of good shops.

I guess the problem lies in the comfort that a uniform gives. If you wear jeans and T-shirts, everything matches and you don't have to be thinking about colours, style ect. Same goes for the haircut - ease of maintenance over the looks.

I'd also like to mention that in many cases the above uniform is accompanied by a pair of (cheap) white trainers... Yuck!
