Are Polish men generally possessive?

Is it normal for Polish people to only go out together if they are married or live together and not to go out with their friends seperately? Do all Polish men want their women to be at home most of the time?

Im only joking... but I appreciate the manners and romantic nature of Polish men...having said that I only know one.. so maybe they arent all like that. Ive never liked English men.. they seem to be lacking something for me.

in my case yes.we always go out together.if one of us is ill or just don't want to go out we both stay at home.

really or are you joking? My bf says that this is the Polish culture that is so different to English... I wondered whether this was just an excuse to justify that he doesnt like me going out with my friends so much or if it is really true.

well.my opinion is;if we are together,we go everywhere together otherwise why bother.i know it is completely different to your way of life but it's true-at least for my generation.although i can't say for everyone.

It was probably your boyfriend excuse but he was right at the same time that in polish culture married women are not supposed to go out alone and rather would go out with other married women if ever.
Many would brake that rule of course.
I don't know about "romantic nature of Polish men" but I understand why you would like the manners.
My ex girlfriend - who was N. American - told me once that we (Poles) were able to be "closer" and were genrelay into relationship but this could be American- Eruopean issue imo.

Thanks guys.. I appreciate the comments. Yes, the cultural differences are huge.. mostly its good, but at times difficult to understand. From my point of view its seems almost like 1950s British values.. old fashioned, but also strangely appealing, as I do think that in the UK we have lost some of those traditional family values over the years.

more than a bit.. he is insanely jealous... which can be flattering, but also drives me crazy at times, because he has nothing to worry about from me.

I heard from some women in PL that the PL men are a bit possessive. But this was at a pub and we were all buzzed 4 out of the 5 wanted to date other than PL.

No...there was no $ discussed. It was more about the differences in attitude and respect.

This is the stereotype that trolls use here in the forum. The truth is that there are women all over that are looking for rich men. So yeah I'm sure there are many in PL too but not the main focus.

ok sorry.. that only what my bf told me... that all Polish women are looking for men with money...he was totally shocked to find that I didnt care that he doesnt have much money... but obviously he's been tainted by years spent with a Polish fish-wife.. Im sure there are lovely genuine polish girls... good and bad people of all nationalities.

bad experience with one greedy polish woman shouldn't be the reason for saying that.as fisz said there are women all over the world who are after money.

I would agree that polish men are definately more possesive and often bossy. However, they are so romantic, the flowers... the poetic sweet words...Also, they are so handy around the house. Most can fix anything.
I think, they are just still the REAL men left, but times had changed. Women are very independent. They need to loosen up a little bit. Especially here in the US.
I will go out with my girlfriends for our woman to woman talks no matter what. There is not a husband or a boyfriend I can have a chat with like we have on "girls night out".
And, no we're not going out to look for other men.

thanks eurola.. i agree with you.. he is great at cleaning too! I consider myself to be a very independent person with a good job and large circle of friends.. however, I know that I have changed pretty radically since Ive been living with 'the Pole'. He doesnt really mind my girlfriends, but male (platonic) friends are a bit of a problem. My best mate is a guy and they hate each other.

Doing things together all the time will get old very fast. People like to socialize with other people and that means without your partner being with. If a person wants to socialize with friends after work,they should not have to say no to their friends and go home to their partner. Nor should they feel they need to invite their partner to this after work event. Some people refer to this as a ball and chain being tied to your ankle. Everywhere you go they go.
Being seperate at times can help the relationship when you talk to your partner and share your excitement of things you did when they were not there. It also applies when they do other things and tell you.
