might that not be a boxing technique? :-)
MMA practitioners have been cross training for years. 52 blocks seems to be the latest style to get rediscovered. Rashad Evans is employing some jail house rock into his dirty boxing game.
Check out the Snakepit in Wigan, Lancashire. It was one of the world's best catch wrestling gyms. I lived in Wigan as a kid and trained judo. Deeply regret not training catch.
many of the catch submission techniques appear to be very injurious. having never fought MMA at competition level, can you be disqualified/banned from competition for breaking someone's arm without giving them time to tap?
I expect you cannot.
Gilbert 'Eye Gouge' Yvel springs to mind. I seem to remember he bit a referee once and they let him continue competing. He certainly knocked a referee out. Bobby Frankham got his boxing licence revoked for hitting a referee so did his brother Johnny.
