Do Polish people have big noses?

Okay, so I know this is a ridiculous question but let me explain.

I was sitting at a table with two "friends" I suppose. One is Lithuanian, the other is Polish, speaks Polish, and is planning to go to Poland for College.
I am Polish as well, around 75%.
Anyway, I've always been self-conscious of my nose, and what I think is rather big. Well today we were discussing Poland and where my friend was going, and my friend asks the other friend if all Polish people have big noses, and she uses ME as an example. Obviously, she didn't care that she hurt my feelings by saying so. The other friend said yeah (although she really doesn't have a big nose) and that she could tell I was Polish by my nose.
I mean, what???? I live in America, but I've always been very interested in my heritage, which is mostly polish. I've asked my parents before what "traits" were of Polish people, and they didn't seem to think there was any distinctive ones. But now apparently big noses are????

So, my hurt feelings aside, would you say in general polish people have big noses? Or is that stupid???
I never really thought I looked Polish. I mean, I'm fair-skinned and all, high forehead, but couldn't that be any eastern european country????

If so, I'm very sorry.

I have nothing against Poland, obviously, because I'm Polish myself. I just don't understand where SHE got the idea that all Polish people have large noses.

Not really...if you're trying to show that what she asked was stupid, then what about the Polish girl who said yes, they do usually have large noses??

Define big. Do you mean wide or one that stands high on the face, like a mountain, or both?

I would respond that it's quite common that some Polish girls are not Einsteins ;).

I guess by big I mean long...and slightly wide. Not a thin Roman nose, bigger than that.

So, I guess the general agreement is that the big nose thing is a misconception?

Hah, no it's not as big as that...it's not like...that long and knobby. I mean, you couldn't cut off a large tip of my nose and have a knob. I realize that's a joke, but I did see a special one time on a man that had a very large nose...kind of like that.

I can maybe get a picture up tomorrow. I would have to look through what I have and find something...usually i only save photos in which my nose looks half decent!!Haha...or even my dad's would work....seeing as we have the same type nose.

I would be interested in seeing the pictures of famous Polish people. I really didn't mean to offend anyone with this question...I mean, i was hurt myself, seeing as she used my nose as a example!! Hah.

hmm i've been told that too, not so much people asking me about my nose but my last name and being told ''all polish people have big noses'' blah blah. my nose is normal just like any other white person in america, just seems messed up since i broke it (got a bump in the middle ).

it seems people stereotype poles with it, but i notice they probably are thinking of jewish people. no offense to jews, stereotypes are not always true.

love, why dont you just get a rhinoplasty? rhinoplasties are the most common appearance enhancement surgery i believe.............if you research your doctors really well and find a very proficient surgeon that shows you before and after of past patients (from several angles, not just a profile shot), i think you can really benefit from it esteem wise...........but make sure to talk to several doctors and not just get the surgery done by the first one you meet.........a botched rhinoplasty is very difficult to redo and only the most skilled surgeons can help.........if it was me i would pick a surgeon that specializes in revision rhinoplasties, meaning they are the one's called in to fix botched rhinoplasties.........they are the elite surgeons that would do it right the first time...........research the surgery lots in general if you are actually going to do it, hope this helps......

I have a big nose, but I don't think that it's a common polish characteristics. Don't you have like actually real problems you could be concern about?

Well I have a big nose and I would say that polish ppl have rather big noses unfortunately.

I have a large nose as well and I'm half Polish...and so does the polish side of my family. I've always thought about it being from my Polish genes and so do my sisters. I'll post a pic later..

I saw your pic, SnB, and I wouldn't say you have a big nose. As for Poles in general, they have distincted noses, which I find very attractive (at least the Poles I know---obviously I don't know every Polish person on the face of the earth.)

Again, I don't think it's big. You have a very attractive nose. I guess it comes down to what you consider big. To me, Carl Malden has a big nose (looks like the pic that Bolo posted.)

Its a nice nose, nothing wrong with and also Mr M, your nose is not big either...I actually wish I had a bigger nose, mines what people have a tendancy to call "cute" I hate it!

The Chineese among themselves sometimes would call white people "big noses" and it i would be rather dregatory.

thats good bolo ... but i have just looked at the pictures of my polish friends and i have to say .... no they dont both the lads (Lukasz and Robert) and the girls (Marta and Kasia) seem to have in proportion to their facial features noses but not BIG
PS - neither are related nor boyf/girlf to each other just individuals
