Do Polish People steal alot?

I got ripped off again at Polish construction supply center. Today my ladder was
missing last time it was some lumber before that was my bungee cords. They even
once stole my magnetic business signs. What would they want with my signs? I dont think its Polish beople that are born here but mainly the immigrants.
This doesnt happen to me when I am shopping in other neighborhoods.

I would say - beware whom you deal with (especially in Poland because for some Poles working abroad seem to be much more "honest" if you will). But if you leave stuff unattended you ask for trouble.

The definition of a thief is a person who would steal if he had the opportunity.. Most people no matter what country they come from would steal if they had an opportunity, more so from a employer who was not paying the correct wages etc..Hmmmmmmmm or an employer who was a a#hole!

I have never experienced this kind of behaviour before ???????

Ill just have to have someone watch my truck when I work in Polish neighborhoods.
I know every nationality has it thiefs but it seems like the only time I get burned
is when i`m at the Polish supply co.





I only have 2 employees and their good friends of mine. Thats not the case.

And where would this be? I know that the PL areas around me are middle- lowerclass areas and the crime is mainly due to hispanics and blacks.

This is in Chicago, IL there are some upscale polish neighborhoods but mostly middle class.
I have alot of Polish friends and there all honest hard working people.

I can see your concern. I'm not in Chi town so I guess you'd know more than I.

I think that certain kind of people in each country steal if they see opportunity.

I agree that polish people are hard working and they are very smart, but living in Chicago among them has taught me that they are very deceitful.
Plus I don't appreciate the fact that we're trying to respect their nationality giving them the right to celebrate their holidays the way they would in Poland,whereas they don't respect our culture- most of them speak littlle english if any.How can you live in a foreign,completely strange country without trying to learn the language of a country you decided to settle down in?How difficult it is?And it's sad that they're not willing to learn our language.Instead,they're trying to build their little country inside America,and it's not fair and wrong.
I've got lots of polish friends and they are wonderful people and they agree with me that what lots of polish people do is not respecting this beautiful country we re living in.

The Native Americans could say the same thing about you.

My girlfriends mother and father moved from Poland over 20 years ago.
She can speak very limited English He speaks none.
Its pretty sad I know more Polish after 6 months than they know English after 20 years.
They are very nice people I just dont get it? Why isolate yourself for that long?

I don't think it is a matter of nationality or race. I think it's class in general. If you are in a poor area (and there is an open opportunity), you should almost expect it. This is common were I live anyway. I have also seen this in areas with a lot of kids. I know many Polish, African, and Hispanic people that I would trust without question. I guess what I'm saying is that there are a lot more "bad seeds" in a rotten apple than in a fresh apple

no its not rubbish, People steal, its not limited to anyone either.

I work in a hospital, we put our lunches in the refrigerator expecting to see them
when we get to have lunch, come back and someone has either taken a bite out
of a sandwich or stole the whole lunch! Money taken from coats, and out of bags
and whatever else, there have even been coats taken. How ballsy is that?

we all decided to get a small camera to put in our break room and also put up
a sign that this room is being watched, since then it has stopped, but it can
happen again, and we think we know who it is, just catching them in the process!

No it isnt rubbish, it could be your neighbor for all you know.

the one thing that really gets me is when people say how Christian they are
and you watch them do it . that makes me so mad, anyone who says I am
close to god and steals must have got their morals mixed up.

I lock up everything, I pay way to much to just give trust away.
its just the way things are, you have to keep what you have, cause there might
be someone out there who wants what you have and will do anything to get it.

I know that feeling! When I was in H.S. I worked at this factory and everybody would
keep their lunch in one fridge. Everyday someone would be missing a lunch so eventually
we figured out it was this Mexican and confronted him. He denied it ! No no it no me!!
A week later it kept on happening so I went and bought Hersheys candy bar and a
box of Ex-lax, obviously I ate the candy and put the ex-lax in the candy wrapper and
placed it in the fridge.

At the end of the day I checked and candy bar was gone!..... no suprise to me
The Mexican denied it as usuall... but the next day No Mexican! 3 days later he comes in holding his stomach saying hes been sick.

Well he must of ate the whole thing I didnt know at the time that your only supposed
to eat a little piece of exlax at a time he must of been on the toilet for days.
After that day nothing was ever stolen out of that Fridge again!
I kinda felt bad for him but then again how would you feel if someone keeps stealin your lunch?

we all had thought of this, we think making a nice piece of choc cake with
ex lax chips on the top

its unfortunate that people do this, if someone was to say or ask me, hey do you
have some extra, i would willingly share with no re-payment.

its the constant stealing. so far, its stopped, maybe the sign that says you
will be punished, and possibly lose your job worked!

for a short time anyway, till they think that no one is watching again .

I have to work today, Im buying lunch there. hopefully they have something
worth eating.

An article in the Polish Constitution states that it is OK to steal your co-worker’s lunch. In my place of employment, someone stole my co-worker’s lunch.
I live in US. I am the only Pole in the office where I work. I know that I did not take it.

lef does have a point.

At one point they stopped employing the ticket inspectors on the buses here in Wroclaw because they were collecting fines from passengers and then keeping the cash.

What about paying somebody money to have something done (pretty common in poland) ie paying a doctor to receive better treatment/building inspector/police officer all forms of dishonesty.What about a price of a home suddenly increase in price because the owner knowns the buyer is from overseas... dishonest, well I think so.

You are right, but we are not all like that.

absolutely. There are lots of good and honest people in poland like in any other country, in defence of the underhandness in poland, I think the communist system forced people to do dishonest things, and like always it is hard to break the habit.

Most polish people are honest expecialy when they workin abroad
But beware polish Rome my friend lost 2 bikes from his yard in London.

I don't think it has to do with any one country. I have found that people steal when they are on drugs or poor and hungry. You have these people everywhere.
