Polish Roots: Doda or Roda

MY Polish roots go pretty far back.. theres one name that confuses me
and I am not sure which way to go with this one..

one of my GG aunts married a Doda or Roda? is that name polish?

anyone have any ideas on a real name spelling?

or know a website that I could possibly check ?

one of my friends name is Duda, he has polish ancestry

A second name I am looking for is Dzierzgowski/Dzierzgowska

in some records the name was spelled Dziergowski.. the Z was missing.. that
probably a error ...

I thought of Duda to.. the translation came off a russian script so it could be
duda.. but without a correct spelling thats all I have.. I was told the two other
names are legal polish names. ( I dont know)

Dzierzgowski/Dzierzgowska - definitely legal names, there are 2 villages named Dzierzgów in my area, so the surnames derivated from this name is very likely (although I never met anybody with that name :)
I guess you probably know that the ending -i is for males, -a for females
no idea about Roda/Doda, sorry, the problem with short names is that every letter is important

Well, I think she has me beat.. she is alot younger by the looks..

I am sure if she was really my cousin, she came to visit I think my door would

with most, isnt it usually how their surnames are formed by the town in which they
came from? with the female and male endings..

and I made a slight error on the roda should be goda.. is that legal name??

There are several main sources (like in other languages) for surnames. Geographic/toponymic ones are (according to wikipedia, but I guess it's taken from some official statistics) the seventh most popular group (8,2%)

Goda - still no idea, but according to those statistics ~6% of the names are foreign, ambiguous, general, hard to explain, so you can't really eliminate any possibility (unless it's phonetically too strange for our language, but all of them, Doda, Goda or even Roda, are phonetically OK)

you shouldnt use wikipedia....anybody can edit it sooo most is false or tampered information

the stats on Polish surnames on wikipedia - they refer the original sources, if you don't trust them, you may check some of their sources, if you really want to go deep into the subject :)

I knew someone in NH with the name Doda & they came from Poland.
