When the population is over 50% Serbian I'll be willing to listen to "Kosovo is Serbia" arguments.

Legally Kosovo would be part of Serbia even if 100% Albanians would live in this territory. You are referring to some outdated nationalist criteria, these days world order is based on territorial integrity. It is extremely dangerous to change this, especially replace to primitive nationalist motivation.

Neither democratic majority is a good argument. You could split Kosovo (and many other territories into many pieces, including such with Serbian or Gypsy majority).

beautiful story, full of emotions

a lot of Poles migrated and was populated on Balkan during Austro-Hungaria... all of them are practicaly assimilated, all but not those who come to live in Voivodina, Northern Serbian province

There, among Serbians, Poles found safe heaven and preserved their language and tradition

Pre gotovo dvesta godina, naime, u ovo selo u banatskoj opštini Čoka doselili su se Poljaci i tu ostali, sačuvavši jezik svojih predaka, jedini od svih svojih zemljaka koji su došli na Balkan.

Paulina Maluckov, teacher in the local primary school, is living enciclopedia... `two hundred years ago, here arrived Poles from arround the Visla River... Here, Poles togather with Serbs and Slovaks resited to forcible hungarization during Austro-Hungaria... We speak archaic Polish`- said among else Mrs Paulina

Walls shell shake, chains would be broken, evil empires would fall, every step of Slavija would be liberated!

Sparta Prague delegates assaulted in Zagreb (Croatia)

PRAGUE - Members of the official delegation of Czech side Sparta Prague were assaulted overnight prior to Thursday's UEFA Cup 1st round match with Dinamo Zagreb, Czech news agency CTK reported.

Ahead of the Dinamo Zagreb versus Sparta Prague match the atmosphere was tense as some supporters of the Czech side expressed support for former Bosnian Serb leader Radovan Karadzic and his former military sidekick general Ratko Mladic, who have been accused of war crimes against Croatians.

‘R. Mladic, R. Karadzic, chin up! Impossible to divide the Slavs. Death to the EU,’ read a banner at an August Czech league match involving Sparta.

1. How do do you see the foreign policy of the Slavic Union. Would it be compatible in the 21st century?
2. What kind of attitude will the members of the slavic union have towards its non-slavic neighbours and citizens living inside their country.
3. Will the members of the slavic union welcome immigrants of non-slavic background?
4. What could be the slavic union's economic policies?
5. What kind of border will the slavic union have?
6. Will the slavic union have its own force? If so, then how will it place itself among EU peacekeepers, NATO and UN.
7. What kind of history would you like to present to the children of the new members of the slavic union (if ocourse your dream is fulfilled).
8. Would we follow secularism or will there be a centralised religion?
9. What message will be given to the people regarding the matter of race. Would we preace harmonious racial integration between slavs, other europeans and also people beyond europe at large? Or, shall we preace anything different?
10. Lastly, do you see a common currency? Or will the Euro be enough.

let me try in a step by steps answering... feel free to give your comments

Lodz_The_Boat:

1. How do do you see the foreign policy of the Slavic Union. Would it be compatible in the 21st century?

Here is what coming to my mind…

Foreign policy, same as other aspects of eventual Slavic Union would be affected by form of internal organization of that Union. In any case, international policy should take in consideration modern standards of diplomatic communication. Would it be compatible with the 21st century? Sure, but why just compatible? Diplomacy of Slavic Union should take best from its enormous Slavic heritage and be even able to offer solutions compatible, to say that way- with 22 century, to be few steps forward.

No matter what we think when say `Slavic Union`- [for example] - Confederation of states or Alliance of states, foreign policy of members in confederation/alliance should be coordinated.

Foreign policy of Slavic Union should not support any international resolutions that might harm positions of some member of Union (for example- such as situation with Kosovo separation from Serbia). It should, on the other hand, support Slavs struggling for their rights; support oppressed Slavic minorities in non-Slavic countries (Lusatian Serbs in Germany, Slovenians in Italy and Austria, Russians in the Baltics and in Central Asia, Poles in Lithuania and Germany, Macedonians and Bulgarians in Greece, Molise Serbs in Italy, Balkan Serbs in Romania), etc, etc.

Priority of Slavic Union must be respect of International order and positive international treaties. Slavic Union should respect sovereignty of other states and respect choices of others because there are cultural differences among people.

In the same time, foreign policy of Slavic Union should include, how to say, recognizable mission of Slavs in the world. I would here remind of one paragraph of the first Serbian constitution after Balkan Serbs liberated themselves from Ottoman Turkish occupation. There was paragraph- `Even if slave come on the lend of Serbs is slave no more.` That Serbian constitution was too liberal for that time (it is maybe even today) and paragraph was removed from constitution on the diplomatic pressure of that time USA, Austro-Hungaria, British Empire and France. So, Slavic Union should be known in the world as synonym for freedom by its internal organization and by its attitude on international scene. Slavs should seek to found way to support Movement of non-aligned countries, international and regional humanitarian organizations, positive UN projects, etc. Among else what should form `Slavic mission` in the world is active support to protection of nature.

Serbia isn`t that far from Poland

Small?

Well, if Polish foes steal land from Poles i for sure won`t be one who would say `Poland is too small`. For me, Poland is what Poles say that it is Poland.

Being small or big is relative category or if you wish even temporary. At least Poles should understand that. It also does not giving you picture about importance of some ethos or culture.

Just look how many toponimes and hydronimes from Europe, Eurasia and Asia could be connected with Serbian ethnic name. It is scientifically confirmed that Serbian name is original (samorodno- not given by foreigners), very archaic. Then, what if Serbian name represent in fact original form of Sarmatian name, once universal name for all Slavs and Balkan/Lusatian Serbs just preserved use of that once universal name of all Slavs. Or what, if some other theories suggest (before you say something- those are theories initiated from non-Serbs), Serbs once lived from Baltic (Lusatia) to the Balkan, from Sorbona to the Siberia. In fact theory is based on same eventual scenario- that before Slavs start to use name `Slavs`, Sarmatian (Serbian) name was universally used. Etc, etc...

Speaking about current situation... Serbia is Western Balkan country with about 9 mil. citizens and there is also Serb Republic inside of Bosnia-Herzegovina (about 1 mil. Serbs) and there is other Serbian state- Montenegro (about 400.000 Serbs). There are also Serbs in Macedonia, Slovenia, Romania, Hungary, Austria, Greece, Albania and Romania- about 1 mil. Serbs in wide region.

So, let`s say about 12 mil. Serbs. Most of them in Serbian states. In distant dispora (USA, Canada, Australia, Germany, Britain, France, Sweden, Finland,..) you have about 3 mil Serbs. All in all about 15 mil. Serbs in the world.

Or should i say that Serbs, from all other ethoses in the region, represent ethos which was most usually target for violent assimilation and that many of those assimilated Serbs this way or another still have (could have!) feelings for their Serbian origin.

Furthermore... Serbian language is far most important language of communication on Balkan, according to many analyzers- crucial strategic region in Europe. Songs on Serbian language are far mostly listened songs in the region populated with more then 60 mil. people.

Serbian language (among others) is used for business and ordinary communication from Slovenia to the Southern regions of Hungary, Northern regions of Greece and Western parts of Bulgaria, especialy on the space of former Yugoslavia. About 25 mil. people on Balkan actively using Serbian language. For Balkan proportions it is really high number.

All medieval Slavic states more or less used Serbian translations of Byzantine and Roman laws. Serbian medieval Empire was that time piedmont of Slavic world. Serbian nobility intermeried with numerous important Slavic noble houses, among else with Polish Piast and Jadwiga dinasties. Hungarian nobleman Janos Hunyadi was Serbian and even famous Hungarian King Mathias Corvin was of Serbian origin. Petefi Sandor was also Serbian, etc... usual lovers of Austrian Emperess Maria Theresia were Serbians, etc, etc, etc, etc...

It is obvious why anti-Slavic forces tend to reduce Serbian influence in the region, creating Greater Croatia (Croatia is Slavic country but strongly controlled by Germany) and Greater Albania. I would remind you that one of key titles of Polish Wladislaw Warnenchik was King of Rascia (referring on central Serbian region Ras/... Racowie). Zawisha Charny was killed by Turks near Golubac fortress in Serbia. He died for freedom of Serbians. One of key reasons why medieval Poland was oriented on Balkan were Serbian sufferings under Turkish pressure. Famous Polish King Jan Sobieski was grand master of noble sacred order formed by Serbian Voivode of knights Milos Obilic. Bottom line why Russia destroyed Turkish Empire were also Serbian sufferings. Serbian constant rebbelions greately weakened Ottomans. Biggest battle in beggining of Turkish expansion in Europe was Kosovo battle in 1389, Serbs vs. Turks. Last serious Turkish battle to try to preserve primate in Europe was Kumanovo battle in today`s Macedonia, in 1912, again Serbs vs. Turks. This time, Serbians finished with Turks. Austro-Hungary stop to exist and Slavs under oppresion were liberated when Serbians arised and said- enough. Back in that time, Russians were hand of God- who responded on Serbian prayers.

So ? Thats a nice sentiment and i agree Serbia was important back then due to its geopolitical standing, its NOT important today for the very same reason.

Any relevant arguments ? As a Pole i have to consider Germany, its a powerfull and important partner, Russia, despite all the conflicts remains important, Baltic States despite their size are located in a very important region.

What is Serbia today ? A little state out of the way of main political and economical events without much significance in polish diplomacy or even regional diplomacy.

So you were once significant, true but its all in the past, today Serbia is not a relevant element of the european political and diplomatical arena and in this respect no one gives much crap.

Poland will always be rather significant because of its unfortunate position smack im the middle of Europe.

Perhaps if the political and economical balance shifts Serbia will become of some importance again, today its on the sidetrack.

The West Winks at Serbian Atrocities in Kosovo

As published in the International Herald Tribune
(August 5, 1998)

by Fred Abrahams
Researcher at Human Rights Watch

Through all the confusion about the current crisis in Kosovo and U.S. foreign policy, one unfortunate fact has emerged: serious human rights violations are being tolerated in favor of short-term geopolitical interests in the Balkans.

This week, Serbian special police forces and the Yugoslav Army launched their largest offensives to date against the ethnic Albanian insurgency known as the Kosova Liberation Army (KLA). Details remain sketchy, since the police have restricted access for diplomatic observers, journalists, and humanitarian aid workers, but initial reports suggest that Serbian forces used disproportionate force, attacked civilians, and systematically destroyed villages. At least 100,000 people are internally displaced, many hiding in canyons and forests, and 20,000 have fled the region altogether.

Its not like Serbia ever helped Poland, Serbia does not have any political leverage, its military power is minuscule as is its economical capability so how the hell is Serbia even going to influence events Crow ?

Man, even people on so called west starting to look at NATO leaders as on criminals, not just Serbs. Attitude of public in Slavic countries i won`t even comment. With every new day NATO is more and more disguisting to Slavs. Fact that NATO tries to hide is that NATO action against Serbians was part of new/old `drang nach osten`. NATO is on the way to oblivion and even isn`t start conflict with Russia. NATO leaders made same mistake as Hitler did. Serbian glory now is absolute! Thiumph would come very soon

Polish press on false reporting from Kosovo

April 27, 2004
http://www.mfa.gov.yu/FDP/270403_e.html

WARSAW - Commenting on the recent wave of violence in Kosovo, the Polish daily "Trybuna" published a feature article entitled "The victory of lies" in which it criticizes what is calls the false portrayal of the situation in the province in the past.

Emphasizing that information regarding "ethnic cleansing" (of ethnic Albanians by Serbs) was based on false and frequently dressed up reports, "Trybuna" reminds that for years the non-Albanian population of Kosovo has been forced to flee from its home and that "the Yugoslav Army and police were forced to confront massive attacks by international terrorist groups".

"The majority of Polish media uncritically rebroadcast news about 100,000 victims of Serb genocide, as well as the disappearance of one million Albanian males and 70,000 Albanian women, reportedly raped by Yugoslav soldiers," writes "Trybuna" and emphasizes that this so-called information was never officially denied.

The paper also reminds that the under the barrage of media propaganda the highest Polish politicians compromised themselves, expressing their regret upon the alleged murder of Ibrahim Rugova at a time when he was holding meetings with Slobodan Milosevic and holding press conferences

US-NATO bombing of Yugoslavia: critical reports circulate on the Internet

By Chris Marsden
20 April 1999
http://www.wsws.org/articles/1999/apr1999/nato-a20.shtml

A number of reports have appeared on the Internet critical of the campaign by NATO and the media to demonise the Serbs.

US media monitoring group expose Serbian rape-camp allegations from 1992

Stories of "rape camps", holding thousands of Muslim women, have played a particularly emotive role in NATO's attempts to justify their bombardment of Serbia. Such biased and selective allegations are not new. A report by the North American News Analysis Group (NANAG) from 1992 chronicles how the mass rape stories first emerged.

Their report, "Rapes in Yugoslavia: Separating facts from fiction", points out that allegations of mass rape, "along with the stories of the same calibre about 'death camps' have resulted in the emotional outcry driving political demands for military action just to 'do something'... Sensationalism, not fact, has driven political action on this issue."

NANAG begin their report with the outbreak of war in Bosnia Hercegovina in April 1992, saying that for the first six months of the war there were no allegations of the mass rape of Muslim women. Then, in November, reports suddenly emerged "provided by such partial sources as government sources of Croatia and Bosnia and Hercegovina". Figures "bounce all over the board, 60,000 to 10,000, casting full doubt on the validity of numbers or reliability of sources".

Your people commited genocide unseen in Europe since WW2, quite frankly NATO should have bombed your little genocidal circus back to stone age, you should be gratefull they did not.

You can blatantly lie about the facts but facts are such that Serbs are guilty of genocide, period.

Yes you do but at least try to be reasonable, no one likes a fanatic. You love your country and fine i can relate to that but stop playing on "us slavs" or "great Serbia" there is no "us slavs".

Let me tell you about slavic relationships.

Poland was for about 2 centuries stomping down on Ukraine, we invaded Russia twice for shits and giggles only, Russia in turn opressed nearly every slavic nation around, our great slavic unity is none-existant, we've been fighting wars with each other forever.

As for Serbia, Serbia is small, Serbia is poor and if any global conflict indeed arises Serbia will not be a significant part of it simply because it has not enough of everything, money, army or economy so saying that Serbia is great or Serbia will do anything is like saying Poland will invade USA.

Third and last of all, there is no anti-slavic conspiracy unless you can prove otherwise, NATO protected us ( slavs ) against our fellow slavs the Russians and we in Poland support it as a nation just as we supported bombing of serbian military facilities.

If you are not a troll then your view of the world around you is extremely detached from reality.
