i've noticed a huge amount of Polish men entering in the MET-RX world strongest man tournament lately. last one had 4 Poles in the finals. Pudzianowski is one of the bets worlds strongest men ever. I believe he can win 2 more and get the record 5 wins and be first on that big list. anyone have comments on this?

Pudzianowski is a star indeed. But - are they being tested for drugs? I don't think so...

they are actually. ypu might be confusing the Strongman competition with MET-Rx's IRONman competition. Strongman its illegal to use roids and IRONman its the bodybuilding competition. body building is using roids, weightlifting is using explosivitivity (honest to god term that they use) i've talked to many weight lifters and they hate it when people confuse them with the guys who flex on stage for the old guys behind the judges desk. lol

also, the body-builders are allowed to use steroids to gain muscle definition and not strength. they are not allowed to enter weight lifting competitions- especially world's strongest man.

From what I've noticed as a whole we Slavs are physically strong people. My grandfather was a freakin' bull, even as an old man (lived to be 92) he was strong, In his late 80's he was still mowing grass with on old fashioned push reel mower and turning his garden by hand. Even my father, I can remember working with him and have seen him do many impressive physical feats. I can remember one time when I was 17 my pop was 67, my father was into old fords and we were looking at parts this fellow had for sale. He had 2 engines in the woods and told us we could have them if we could get em out of there. My old man wanted them for parts so we backed the truck up there and loaded them on the truck they weigh about 600lbs. and change a peice, you do the math.

It's a pity, though, she now crushes trash... I'm surprised that the Polish weightlifters association allowed her to end up like that. Pitiful. I feel sorry for her though.

"Double Olympic weightlifting medal winner Agata Wrobel says she is loving life in Britain sorting rubbish at a recycling plant – give or take the odd rat."

I'm curious what is the law with steroids in Poland? Can you purchase them without prescription? Also what is the law for possesion/usage?

you can purchase them on the internet. i would assume that they will be known as a "controlled substance", probably illegal.
Be warned steriods are physically damaging and pschologically damaging, avoid them if possible. Real muscle is earnt through sweat and tears. Steriods is cheating.

I'm aware of all the potential risks and benefits Giles. I also feel you are very naive if you think using steroids is cheating. Steroids are no short cut. They're are not a magic pill. You must still eat, train, rest, sacrifice to gain muscle or strenght with roids or not. Steroids speed the process up but gains are easily lost if the 3 disciplines of eating, training and sleeping are not followed. Sure you gain quicker (initially) but this is the whole point of using steriods. They speed a process up. The only dumbasses that use roids to bulk up quick are the same ones who lose it all 6 months down the line because they have no discipline in the first place to gain muscle naturally and adhere to the 3 basic rules. Eat, train, sleep. I'm not attacking you directly but I feel very strongly on this subject and I hate how the media attack steroid and steroid users and how it has spilled over to public opinion on them.

Do you realise one of the most potent anabolic 'drugs' HGH (human growth hormone) is undectable by ANY means? This means this 'drug' can help athletes to attain greater muscle mass, strenght and fat loss all UNDETECTED. It is on the banned list of substances by the likes of the strongman federation but they state it is undetectable.

Anyone who thinks all proffesional athletes in any sport are 'drug' free are kidding themselves. This doesn't make them any less an athlete. Though the media and public perseption would have you think this.

Rant over.

P.s so roids are illegal for possesion in Poland? I'm still interested to know.

The Strongman competition Met-rx is not steroid tested. A person can be on as much steroids or human growth hormones as they want. The Iron man competition is not a bodybuilding contest it is endurance. You must be able to cycle, swim and run for long distances in the heat. I'm sure there is some steroids or growth hormones involved here, even if they do test. These new athletes know how to mask.

The big body building shows like Mr. Olympia, Mr. World, Mr. America, Mr. USA are not steroid tested. They can be on as much roids and HGH as they want.

There are some big Natural bodybuilding shows in America which test urine and have lie detector tests. However there is no test for HGH unless you draw blood. These natural shows are also being infected by people beating the testing.

Oh I know what you are talking about. I was talking about the bodybuilding thing. I know for fact that they use steroids. Arnold S. was open about it. I prolly got the names confused.

I presume you are joking on the cheaters bit. Consider the fact top level football players in Europe, Baseball players and American football players in the USA have and still test positive for roids not to mention the Olympics. It's not cheating it's getting a level advantage. As for the small nuts and pimples. Yes these are possible side effects. As is liver damage, obesity and death from consuming alcohol or any number of cancers and death from smoking. Admitedly these are the extremes from over consumption of these drugs but with all these modetation is important.

Riff- are you confusing the Arnold Classic with MEtrx strong man comp? I believe the World's strongest man is tested for but the ARnold is definately not tested as Arnold Schwarzenegger has been criticised for putting his name to a show that is not tested.

Bubawoo- If you don't mind would you mind expanding on your friends experience and what has exactly happend to him mentally and physically? I am interested to know as I am still a natural and am keen to know about as many different experiences of roids both good and bad.

Steroids are not controlled in Poland...or at least were not up until recently.

In fact, Jelfa SA is one of the top manufacturers of these drugs. They make a testosterone blend in a time-released formula called Omadren 250 which is recognized across the globe as one of the more potent drugs available.

I had a look at the EU site on drugs and couldn't find anything on steroids specifically. The rule on most drugs in Poland seems to be the punishment will be determined by the type of drug and quantity and reasons for use. But something that I found very shocking was that in Cyprus you can be locked up for a long time for possesing cannabis as it's a huge risk to human health apparently.

On the topic of Poles being strong as oxen; in my experience you have a few physical classes within polish history.

Farmer/Labour/Blue Collar: Strong as oxen

Clerks/Professional/Artists/Professors: Weakest men in all creation

Sports Illustrated's website listed 14 wrestlers who were sent drugs through the mail.
Three of those performers - Benoit, Eddie Guerrero and Brian Adams - are dead.

Less said about Benoit the better - really sad.
